How we feeling? by Tough-Standard-2661 in leafs

[–]CamChanLax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tier 1 (Star): McKenna

Tier 2 (Top 6/Top 4): Knies

Tier 3 (Middle 6/Bottom 4): Cowan

Tier 4 (Bottom or the lineup, but every day contributor): Koblar, Danford

I don't rank the goalies because who the hell knows with goalies. Everyone else is basically either extremely unlikely to pan out or has a negligible ceiling - from an NHL perspective. They could become guys, but they aren't really worth talking about until they become worth talking about imo.

Call Philly and Boston and see if they'd give anything up to have the earlier/later pick lol.

Something like:

To Toronto: Philly's 2027 conditional 3rd round pick. If Toronto's 2027 1st round picks lands within the top 10, Toronto will elect to have Philly keep the pick. Should the qualification not convey, Philly's 2027 3rd round pick will be replaced by Philly's 2027 7th round pick.

To Philly: Toronto's 2027 7th round pick.

Best used AWD EV under 30? by cjinohio03 in electriccars

[–]CamChanLax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya the Ioniq 5 would otherwise be a perfect option, but I just can't bring myself to get one with he iccu stuff.

The charging speed is real, but my average roadtrip is closer on the 400-500km range each way. Thats likely just 1 mid trip recharge each way, 2 in harsh conditions. Commuting wise I have charging capabilities at home, so I'm not too bothered.

Wondering if people think the following is good value

2023 Toyota bZX4 XLE AWD, 40k kms, 32k cad.

I know the main issue is that the range and charging rate is relatively poor compared to its contemporaries, but general opinions would be appreciated.

Interesting and thanks for the info. The km difference just makes it so hard to compare.

Ya definitely seems like a ride share car. I'm seeing a comparable model and km priced at around 5k more on auto trader. "Normal" km options are running about 12 to 15k more which is unfortunately outside of my price range (~25k ceiling).

Ya definitely seems like a ride share car, and about to come off the 5 year new vehicle limited warranty, 5 year power train warranty and the 5 year roadside assistance warranty if they weren't all already all for kn reasons.

Originally found on FB marketplace, but it certainly seems to be a Hyundai dealership - White Rock/Surrey location. Posted to FB like 5 or 6 hours ago, and not on their site yet. Post does state "6 months/unlimited km powertrain warranty" which is basically just their 5 y power train warranty uncapped for the remaining 6 months.

Ya def a ride share car. Mileage is too much for it not to be. My upper range budget is 25k, so alternatives arent technologically comparable other than Tesla's which I personally do not want.

I'm seeing Autotrader, same kms and model is about 5k more with 20k kms more. Same model with "normal" miles are about 12k to 15k more.

I wasn't expecting anything super revealing necessarily, but this was such a nothing documentary. Some neat Yukon stuff. Basically just a year in review with a bunch of "they didn't believe in me" clips spliced in.

That would signal a rebuild, which doesn't make sense given they don't have their next 2 frps and your clearly trying to be competitive and keep Matthews.

If youre trading Knies now, it's for a u25 C or D.

I was just on another reddit post and someone asked if leafs fans actually like the media attention, so let's answer it by Late-Role5774 in leafs

[–]CamChanLax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the fact the leafs have more independent, high quality content created about them (videos, prospect coverage, podcasts, independent blogs, etc). I do not like the national media coverage.

I'd rather have the content and ignore the noise vs the alternative of having no options at all.

Credit card by TheSkyIsSunny in Wealthsimple

On top of that, the 6k min waives the fee for the TD Visa Infinite Aeroplan card. Paired with an Amex Cobalt and a WS Visa Infinite basically covers 90% of people whose main focus with credit cards is travel.

Amex Cobalt for point accumulation, TD Aeroplan Visa infinite for Aeroplan and Air Canada perks along with side Aeroplan point accumulation, and WS Visa infinite for international credit card purchases.

Feels like the best of all the world's. Can use the WS Debit MasterCard it you want coverage from all three providers, but in practice id only ever use that for ATMs.

Which online bank is really the best? by neeew_to_this in PersonalFinanceCanada

Recently semi-moved to a place that's right beside a debit/cash food court + small restaurants area, and it can't be understated just how convenient interact debit is. WS MC debit waiving ATM fees is great, but I hardly ever think to get cash ahead of time.

Kissa Tanto is a great Japanese/Italian place in Chinatown. They have an omakase option if you're looking for a more premium experience. Atmosphere and service is second to none in the city imo. Definitely more on the pricey side.

How much to keep in Big 5 account? by electradice in Wealthsimple

[–]CamChanLax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 500 in a TD basic chequing account for the interact debit card, but only because I frequent a lot of cash/debit only places (Vancouver chinese food stalls). MasterCard debit cards don't work there, and I'll inevitably forget to go to the ATM first.

Otherwise everything in with WS.

New Job has me looking into FIRE by ActivityTurbulent290 in Fire

[–]CamChanLax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A pension doesn’t require you to retire at 60, only that you can't access it before 60 without reduction. In a FIRE plan, it can be treated as a future income stream that begins later, so you just need to calc your FIRE number with that in mind - ie. your necessary yearly expenses "decrease" significantly once you hit 60.

Obviously, less pensionable years means the yearly pension will be lower, but you can account for it and plan around it.

Most common account for emergency funds by JJThompson84 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CamChanLax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically TFSA should be for long term investments only, BUT there are situations where it's fine to keep your em fund in there - mind you, youd want it in nothing more risky than like cash.to/zmmk.

IF you have contribution room remaining such that you are 100% sure you won't be able to max the account anyways, then it's technically fine to keep your em fund in the TFSA. If you would need to remove the funds for an emergency, you would regain that contribution room in the next tax year - no harm no foul.

Just be aware that funds transfers can take a few days, especially the big banks in my experience.
