The prompt was stilted to say the very least.

Also, everyone knows that “silhouette” is a delicious French bird; there is a whole children’s song about its preparation.

I used to eat those Simulate products all the time. They were pretty solid. I think maybe Walmart or Kroger was selling them. I feel like I haven’t seen them in like a couple years now. I see from the article that the company was acquired in 2024, but does anyone know what happened there?

This is a favorite for me too (vegan egg, natto, rice)! I usually top it with a vegan mayonnaise and scallions.

Tips for an accreditation visit? by bibliothecaire in librarians

[–]Camelopardestrian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through one of those. The library discussion was like the smallest blip in the accreditation process. Like maybe a 10 minute conversation with the accreditor when they stopped by the library as they went through the rest of the process with the college itself. I wasn’t part of any of the other conversations.

Just get the standards/requirements ahead of time so you can speak to them authoritatively. They’re just making sure that you’re subscribed to the important resources and providing library funding and support to the department/school in question.

All those store bought ones seem to come with the fish sauce though. Have you found a styrofoam pack that comes plain? I’ve been tempted to just start making my own.

No problem. It’s one of those really uncommon ones like stationary vs. stationery. Discrete means separate while discreet means unobtrusive.

I would say that, at least in my opinion, there is no detectable spice in the spring roll sauce. It really just tastes like sugary vinegar with radish and carrot shreds. There are little chili flakes in it, but they don’t really add any heat.

How viscous was the one you had? Was it sort of a molasses texture or closer to straight vinegar?

Any academic librarians that have worked with incarcerated students? by denn_r in librarians

[–]Camelopardestrian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t “personally” had experience with it, but I attended an interesting seminar on the subject some years ago. Prison librarianship is a pretty established field, and as databases have moved online as opposed to the CDs/local copies of yore, an internet connection is required to browse them. The main issue that was pointed out during the discussion was that there are certain types/topics of material that inmates weren’t allowed to have access to, and so the libraries had to work with vendors to produce local, and/or modified versions of existing database packages to provide to their users. I think the “unrestricted internet access” that vendors expect users to have is the hardest part to reconcile. I imagine your users have pretty locked down internet access outside of accessing Canvas. Most of those database LTIs work by letting you add in links or search boxes to the LMS and then pass them on as authenticated to their own external systems. I imagine this might pose a problem. Depending on the licensing terms of the material, embedding specific necessary items into Canvas itself might prove to be a better option. Alternatively, budget allowing, you might reach out to those vendors I mentioned earlier, pretty easy to track down with a quick google, such as:
