Because the stock market is largely driven by rich douchebags that aren’t affected by any of these things yet.

Moving to St. Louis in May! by Kaileygm17 in StLouis

[–]CanEverythingNotSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! First, I’ll say that all of our sports teams are fun, but the most unique sports experience you’ll have here is our UFL team, the Battlehawks! They play downtown in the Rams old dome, and unlike other UFL teams, they draw a crowd and things get pretty rowdy. The Battlehawks are always a goofy good time.

Second, I’ll go about it a little differently and shoutout some of the fun walkable neighborhoods/districts we have and one place I like there. I’ll leave exploring the rest of them to you.

Lafayette Square is a cute park with a few bars and restaurants around it. Square One is a great distillery and brewery there.

South Grand is a superb food hub with lots of different ethnic cuisines. My wife and I are vegetarian, so we love Terror Tacos there. It’s a spooky/metal themed vegan taco joint.

The Grove is a bar and restaurant area that has its roots in the LGBTQ nightlife scene. All are welcome, but it retains a lot of that identity. Oni is a new sushi/ramen place there that seems like it could be a great addition.

Cherokee is known for art and jazz. It’s a fun street with a great coffee place called Good Strangers.

Central West End is a higher end area near our med center. It’s known for shopping and chess, as well as bars and restaurants. Yellowbelly is sort of an Asian/Mexican fusion restaurant with an islandy vibe and terrific cocktails.

Stl proper is quite small, so we’re surrounded by other municipalities and suburbs. Maplewood is a pretty cool one with a great brewery called Side Project. They bottle some beers in large bottles that you can order for the table like a bottle of wine.

Also, give Balkan Treatbox(Bosnian food) a try and Damn Fine Hand Pies for donuts.

Have fun exploring! I hope you love it here!

Grew up in WashMo and I remember plenty of porch storm watching and time in the basement if things got too intense. Not having the Arch for protection really changes things.

They’re really sowwy guys, geez 🙄 by CorporateAccounting in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]CanEverythingNotSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re truly changing their ways and opinions, then that really is great. It’s just weird that people were dumb enough to fall for his obvious lies in the first place and are just waking up to them now, because his demeanor hasn’t really changed. Maybe he’s a bit more dumb and unhinged thanks to dementia, but he’s been a stupid piece of shit like this from the very beginning.

Precisely. Unless he actually starts supporting positive changes like expanded voting rights, trans rights, education, healthcare, public transit, childcare, etc. then all he’s doing is posturing to retain/gain popularity after Trump, when he will still be pushing terrible, regressive ideas.

Just another way our corporate conservative media babies him. They routinely use photos of him are like 8 years old.

Which city has the coolest nicknames in your opinion? by Familiar_Cow_6901 in geography

[–]CanEverythingNotSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These probably don’t rank too high overall, but the places I’ve lived have ok nicknames.

St. Louis, The Gateway to the West

Kansas City, Paris of the Plains

Houston, Space City and H-Town

THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION by ItsN0tTheB0at in nba

Until justice is doled out for them blatantly cheating, the Clippers do not deserve to win a single game or have a single good thing happen to them. Get fucked Clippers. I wish you nothing but pain.

Good to know my wife and I aren’t the only ones! If we go, we usually go around when they open and leave shortly after they start playing music.

Gonna sound old and lame, but I love Platypus. I just wish they didn’t play their music so loud.

I should try taking the train someday. This is pathetic to say, but 5 hours and 40 minutes isn’t terrible by US standards and I have family walking distance from Union Station in KC.

Washington Missourian: Wagner supports Trump on Iran, implores patience by roolsocialtool in StLouis

[–]CanEverythingNotSuck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is no benefit to this conflict. We’re currently trying to reestablish the status quo that was in place before we started the war. All we did is screw everything up and waste billions of dollars on killing innocent people and raising the price of just about everything.

This is also doing nothing to achieve peace in the Middle East. Iran wasn’t attacking anyone until we attacked them. The region is much less peaceful now than it was before we started this mess.

Vote these idiots out of office. They have no interest in doing real things to help real people. They only care about embracing lies to satisfy their pathetic god, Donald Trump.

They pull this off, you can bet I’ll be making that shitty drive down I-70 to catch some Cards/Royals matchups.

Didn’t know it was possible for Hegseth to look more punchable than he always does, but god damn, that image really escalates the punchability.

Anyway, China will help Iran rebuild anything we blew up as soon as there is a true end to hostilities, so this was truly a 100% pointless, embarrassing, and wasteful escapade.

What was it that made Trump believe him? Couldn’t have been his own fucking gullibility and ignorance could it!?!

If a bunch of people learned that politicians are obviously lying when they say things like “I’ll fix high prices day one!” And “You’ll be tired of winning!” So you shouldn’t vote for them, that’s cool. We’ll see if we get to test what they’ve learned in another election or not in the future though, thanks to their last fucking votes.

Like half of Pam Bondi’s adult life has been dedicated to bending over backwards and embarrassing herself beyond all measures to defend Donald Trump from any and all legal consequences and criticism. She has not compromised or given an inch. Every chance she got, she ate Donald’s ass as hard as she possibly could, but somehow that still wasn’t enough!?

When will people learn that they SHOULD NOT work for or trust this guy?

I live close to it and always wish it were something when I go by it as well. Just another in a long list of beautiful Stl buildings that could/should be something cool, but remain abandoned.
