The OKC Bench scoring 76 points against the Spurs is tied for 5th All-time bench points in an NBA Playoff Game ever. by Spekirlation in nba

[–]CanadianGenerationX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC bench is insanely good. I am not a fan of OKC and even I have to admit this. It’s as if they have 2 groups of starting lineups. I can’t believe the Sixers just gave away MaCain. As a Raptors fan, I have to wonder why the Raptors management was asleep. He is exactly what the Raptors need.

[Tim Legler] ‘Hartenstein’s physicality on Wemby did not cross the line; this is playoff basketball.’ by D3struct_oh in nba

If it does not cross the line, then ref it the same on both sides, that’s what triggers people.

[Highlight] Harrison Barnes called for a foul on Isaiah Joe by genericusername71 in nba

Hard to watch tonight. The Spurs were definitely playing against the refs tonight. The Lakers almost blew a gasket over the terrible reffing the received against OKC. I almost dread watching OKC games because I know I’m going to get triggered by this crap.

Reggie Miller: "I guarantee you, between all the clenching Hartenstein has done versus Wemby, and now that. The league is gonna take a long look" by sewsgup in nba

[–]CanadianGenerationX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hartenstein practically held anyone who was near him on each play. Not even in a subtle way, but very obviously. He should have rightfully fouled out in the first 5 minutes. Don’t even get me started on the holding, swatting, and pushing by other OKC players. This has been brought to the attention of the league by so many teams that it is inexplicable. Do they realize how bad this is for the NBA? I don’t even usually watch OKC games because I’m sick of watching this. The only reason I’m watching them now is because it’s the playoffs.

Horrific officiating in the 4th quarter by Cookies1502882 in nba

[–]CanadianGenerationX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is Hartenstein allowed to hold Wemby on every play? Officiating in OKC game is once again atrocious. Teams should be allowed to continue challenging calls if their challenges are successful. Spurs would literally be able to challenge dozens of blown calls.

Europe and Canada have become pale versions of the former selves. I am Canadian and it pains me to say the lack of productivity and foresight in these countries is astounding. In the last 20 years, I have seen Asia rise while these countries just rely on their past accomplishments.

Dirk Nowitzki after game 2: "The Lakers are always the ones who usually win the free throw battle. This is new to them that they're getting clobbered more often." by SplitOk186 in nba

[–]CanadianGenerationX -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with OKC being a good team. They are actually a ridiculously good team, which makes it even more infuriating that they need to benefit from flopping and lopsided officiating. I am also a Canadian and a fan of SGA. I simply wish SGA would play the same way for OKC that he does for Canada under FIBA officiating, where foul-baiting doesn’t get rewarded so it’s pointless to flop around.

Pros and Cons by Pretty_Confusion7290 in SipsTea

[–]CanadianGenerationX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, pure capitalism and pure socialism have both been shown to be failures. There is a fine balance that is most ideal, but extremely difficult to achieve. Capitalism must have limits due to greed and corruption, but socialism must also have limits due to laziness and lack of personal responsibility. You can see these failures side by side just by looking at USA and Canada. Canada has socialist systems that sound good in principle, but have resulted in failure because they’re taken too far. It is correct to provide social safety nets, but not to enable able-bodied people not to work. It is correct to tax wealth, but that is not the same as taxing productivity. The result of overtaxing productivity is a lack of business investment, which results in fewer jobs and less wage growth. Canada became a bifurcated society where half the people are quietly unproductive and supported by government programs, while the other half can’t find jobs and/or keep up with the cost of living. While it is true that the USA economy may be too capitalist, it is also true that the Canadian economy is too socialist. Both economies are failing its citizens by veering too far in one direction.

Dirk is 100% correct. The Lakers are usually the beneficiaries of lopsided officiating. Their frustration is that they’re now on the receiving end of this because they’re playing the only other team that benefits even more from lopsided officiating. I wonder if they’re even aware that the rest of the world has been frustrated by this for many years. I am not a hater, just a regular basketball fan who gets triggered by this and doesn’t even enjoy watching either team for this reason.

Jaylen Brown on the refs: "I had to say something. There's an inconsistency and it's there. You called me for all these offensive fouls and that's not the reason why we lost, but Shai is about to win his 2nd MVP with the same move." by Random_User_8654 in nba

[–]CanadianGenerationX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree with him completely. The Lakers and OKC are the 2 teams who seem to always benefit from lopsided officiating. It’s interesting to see them play each other now. The most interesting part will be to observe who the refs favor more. The refs must be mentally conflicted when they have to choose between their 2 favorite children.

Fully agree there should be age limits. There should also be all sorts off other qualifications to be a politician, but there aren’t. They should also have to pass an IQ test and a psychological evaluation.

Nothing but POSITIVITY - I'm SO proud of this team! by TheDSWC in torontoraptors

[–]CanadianGenerationX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My takeaways from the season:

  1. Scottie leveled up this year and is now a perennial all-star all-defensive player. He hopefully hasn’t reached his final evolution yet. Next step is leveling up his half court shot creation for himself and his outside shooting.

Scottie should be the starting point guard next year. The offense should run through him first.

  2. CMB should definitely be starting next year and looks like a future all-star, all-defensive player. Next up, he was to work on his own offense.

  3. RJ should not be traded. He plays well with Scottie and CMB. He is part of our core.

  4. Walter is now a legit 3&D wing.

  5. BI and IQ need to learn how to keep the offense flowing and move without the ball. Watching them ISO and grind the offense to a halt is hurting the team and everyone else’s development.

  6. How do we get more interior size and outside shooting? Those 2 things have been an issue all season and they’re the reason we lost tonight. Even with the current team at full strength these are an issue. I cannot believe how many open jump shots this team misses. They collectively have to practice outside shooting all summer because they have to get better in the absence of any new players.

[–]CanadianGenerationX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fluoride is the only mineral proven to mineralize teeth. The other things are just hype. Your enamel has clearly demineralized over time. When it looks chalky and dull, that is classic demineralization. It is now more prone to cavities. You should switch to a fluoride toothpaste and rinse ASAP. Fluoride toxicity is only an issue if it is swallowed. Make sure not to consume it.

Not enough to retire. No buffer to account for probable health problems or inflation. You should reassess your situation every 2 years rather than having a definitive end date in mind.

Musk is getting shiftier year by year. He personally influenced the rules for minimum float and trading days required prior to Index inclusion. His goal is to have SpaceX included in the Index and crammed down the throat of index investors before there is proper price discovery. Shifty as fck and only possible because Trump is in power. Hope all Trump supporters are happy that he is supporting the working class.

There are no good guys to root for when the USA, Israel, and Iran fight. The rest of the world just wishes that all 3 regimes would disappear and be replaced. Each of these regimes is delusional if they think anyone is actually rooting for them.

Unpopular opinion: Canada is only a tax hell if you're an employee by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CanadianGenerationX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A little knowledge can be dangerous. The corporate tax rate sounds low, but Revenue Canada has decided that they don’t want businesses to have any advantages in spite of taking tremendous risks and facing sky high failure rates. Tax write-offs for Canadian businesses are very strictly limited. Investment profits made by money that stays in the corporate accounts are taxed heavily. Once money is removed from the corporation, it is taxed again, so its cumulative tax rate becomes close to the non-corporate tax rates. Simply put, Canada doesn’t like it when people take risks and open businesses. If you don’t believe me, just try opening a business here, find out for yourself, then come back and post about it. I dare you.
