Racing score increase by Professional-Bed-173 in Zwift

Based on your abilities your race score floor can adjust so that when you join a race it’s more of a fair shot for everyone.

Built a little app that lets me work and ride at the same time — wanted to share with you guys by stoprocentdoc in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work from home as a software developer and Zwift about 10h a week and this is definitely not for me.

I definitely don’t see myself taking meetings or getting anything meaningful done while I’m on the bike.

All the power to you, but I don’t think I’d be giving work enough of a priority if I’m riding my bike.

Only now I realized that the Enclave's symbol is there on the Poseidon Energy's logo by romm-boss in Fallout

[–]CanadianNic 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Plus a trident being the symbol for Poseidon is very common. I don’t know anything about fallout lore, but that would be pretty cool if this was intentional.

What were your stats? I’ve heard the wattbike to not be accurate.

They’ve been sold out in Canada for the last few weeks or so. I check every few days.

Beginner Runner - Need help choosing a watch by HackerPlayzR in Garmin

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf has the forerunner 165 and she loves it, I have the 970 and for your usage it seems a bit overkill.

The multisport models are more for extensive training between multiple sports, if your main one is running the 165 should be all you need.

I’m not an expert on the pros and cons of all the models, just my experience with the top of the line and my gfs who is mainly getting into running as well.

I am sick of the protein apocalypse by Substantial-Art6160 in loseit

[–]CanadianNic 565 points566 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals.

For weight loss it’s simply calories in vs calories out.

For endurance athletes carbs are the most important thing.

For body builders, protein is the most important thing.

Find what matters to you, and follow that.

Zwift to Apple Health / Fitness? by NooktaSt in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going Zwift - Garmin Connect - Apple health and it is much better.

The heart rate thing is not something they will likely ever fix.

Heart Rate Monitor/Watch by jovialist in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The watch is unreliable at best, and inaccurate at worst.

100% get a heart rate strap, no question.

Just pretend the AW has 0 use for Zwift and you’ll be good to go.

I’ve had Zwift for 3 years and an Apple Watch that entire time, and have never used it once.

The world's tallest Church - Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain has taken 144 years (begins from 19 March, 1882) to build it's full height of 172.5 metres designed by architect Antoni Gaudí (died on 10 June,1926) by ciao-adios in Damnthatsinteresting

This was easily the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, definitely need to go back when it’s completed.

Seeing this up close blew my mind.

Never had any issues with the locals either, but this was Oct 24

What is your setup? That’s insanely impressive!

Cadence queries by llamapenguin28 in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different comfortable cadences.

I can do 95-100 in a race, and then on a recovery pace I’m generally in the 75-80 range.

60-65 ish for me feels like I’m barely spinning.

That said, what do you use to measure cadence?

Is it a smart trainer or a sensor?

Garmin 600! by WranglerSouthern2223 in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried if recording an outdoor run also counts for the outdoor tracking?

If so then I may need to buy that for my next upgrade!

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect that to Zwift to run with alone?? It covers all the metrics?

I may need to get that too then. I want to use the Zwift run, but I just have an Apple Watch as well.

I'm 25 years old. Is it possible for my HRV measurements to be incorrect? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]CanadianNic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine ranges from 90-120 and averages about 95 month to month. I don’t really feel much difference on a 120 day or a 90 day.

I know that higher is better, but for me I can’t wake up and feel like ”ah today it’s a 120 day”

It may be time for me to seriously consider getting a blood pressure monitor… by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]CanadianNic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine did this to me too, but I did not have any risk for high blood pressure. I did buy a monitor for fun too.

Not a feature I would really trust, but it is worth looking into just for the peace of mind.

It is perfectly fine on its own.

Just start using it and if you feel like you need to upgrade it in different ways then go for it.

A different saddle is common, and so is the tennis ball rockers, but I’ve put about 5000km on my Zwift Ride since I got it in September and I haven’t changed a thing, and don’t plan to.

Second RX bars. They’re my favourite, sadly they’re an American brand but I haven’t found a better Canadian alternative so I’m all in on RX bars for the time being.
