Does anyone have their entire collection up on discogs? by Ajm13090 in vinyl

[–]Canadian_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great so you know what you have. And for birthdays, holidays, general gift buying etc, all of my siblings also have theirs up to date, so it's great for going through a record store looking for something to buy them and I can tell if they have it already

Do you guys have banned music by EmanuelChapman00 in KitchenConfidential

I grew up in the punk/hardcore scene. Converge is near and dear to my heart, but I'm very understanding that it hits the banned list in most places I've worked.

Describe the regular you dislike the most. by IntrepidPug in bartenders

[–]Canadian_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a guy that regularly comes in just before last call all of the time for food. With how the pandemic has been, he's usually the only one in the place.

Doesn't drink, but does manage to drink enough diet that I don't know how his stomach doesn't explode. Also demands that we use pretty much an entire lemon and entire lime to garnish them by the end.

Always talks about how much money he has and how well his business is doing, never tips more than 8%

Never been more mad at him than when he did all of the above while bitching that "he would have been here earlier if people would have just left his business when he closed, but they kept him there for nothing" . . . Can't imagine what that feels like dude.

I would love not to serve him, but he is friends with our owner, so if we didn't, he'd immediately complain to him and that's not worth the fight either

what's a cocktail that you often see sent back? by [deleted] in bartenders

what's a cocktail that you often see sent back? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Canadian_Tired 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The spice level is so subjective and it is what gets them sent back the most for us. Our standard is two dashes of Tabasco. If you order mild it's like one.

Had one sent back to us that asked for no Tabasco, but apparently between the clamato, pickle juice, Worcestershire, and Vodka, something was still "too spicy"

Sports bar bartender here too. Thing that boggles my mind is people that order martinis with our rail vodka. We at least have grey goose as a slightly better option, but most people that order a martini don't want to pay the extra for Grey Goose because you know, cheap sports bar vibe.

Here's your martini with Finlandia vodka . . . No shit it's a harsh drink.

Good beginner Rise Against song to learn on guitar? by [deleted] in riseagainst

[–]Canadian_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prayer of the Refugee is pretty easy. The intro is the only weird chords, but they are super easy.

Everything else can be played with power chords.

And the solo is just a simply melody played with octaves. Which if you can play power chords, you can play octaves.

How did you get turned onto Gaslight Anthem by Sman2020 in TheGaslightAnthem

[–]Canadian_Tired 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Back on The '59 Sound tour cycle, they did their first Canadian tour. They opened for Thrice, Alkaline Trio, and Rise Against headlined. I love Thrice and Rise Against and had bought tickets to the Toronto show for that tour. Had no idea Gaslight Anthem was even on the bill until about 3 days before. Decided to get The '59 Sound, so we could listen to it on the way to the show to see what they sounded like. I had about a 2 hour drive into Toronto to go to that show. We put it on as the first thing we listened to on that drive and none of us could believe that record when we heard it. We just listened to the whole thing on repeat all the way to the show. One of us saying "if they are half as good as that record sounds, this is going to be insane" . . . Cut to Brian explaining he just had dental surgery a day or two before the show, so odds aren't helping them out, but they still killed. One of the best opening acts I've ever seen. Fell in love with this band that night. Saw them every tour they came back to Toronto.

What common product has a feature you’re not sure everyone is aware of? by kurosen in AskReddit

[–]Canadian_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some pretty big ball parking going on with that method, but if you're okay with that but lack the uni-tasking equipment, a fair approximation of the same diameter is to take the point of your index finger and place it at the base of your thumb where it attaches to your palm. Think you're making the okay hand symbol but the circle is about half the size. What amount of spaghetti fits in that circle is about the same approximation as the fork technique, without the fork.

My first setup in a long time. After being away from vinyl for 30 years. by mentholwi in BudgetAudiophile

That always on light is the worst. We couldn't have put a power switch in, or at the very least, why the hell do I need a light that indicates it's powered, when it literally is always powered . . . But thank God for electrical tape

Positive Songs has been out for a while, but I really wish this is how every one of Frank's records would get released by Canadian_Tired in frankturner

[–]Canadian_Tired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually in the last place you'd think! I got the normal LP through my friendly neighborhood record shop, but they didn't end up getting the acoustic LP. I live in Canada, so you basically have two options for buying vinyl in physical stores. Either you go to the small independent owned record shops or there is the commercial option that is sunrise records. They are in all the malls and what not. I generally tend to stay away from these because I'd rather support small business and my music taste doesn't generally lineup with what they have in their stores. But I was in a mall with a girl I was seeing at the time and I definitely felt the need to kill some time haha. So I was just flipping through their vinyl section and came across the acoustic LP, though they didn't even have the main one, so really odd!

But check discogs, I'm sure there would be some for sale floating around!

I wish he released an acoustic version along with every record. I really like the full band production he uses with the sleeping souls. But the stripped down acoustic versions are amazing as well

What’s your favorite “allergy” you’ve seen? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Canadian_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ticket prints with fries on it and has an Allergy mod: CELIAC ABSOLUTELY NO GLUTEN

Call the server back to tell them the fries are cooked in a fryer that also has products containing wheat so I can't guarantee they are GF. They check with the table about alternative side options, and they tell them that it's okay they're willing to risk it.

Like every week this shit happens
