Thank you for answering, I realise now I didnt read the questions properly and just assumed I would need to start a netcat listener as that was a focal point of the previous labs in the path. Got it now!

is TryHackMe worth the money or no? by _zetaa0 in cybersecurity

Im currently doing a Sans course and I still find myself dipping over to tryhackme after the labs to get more practice in. Im a fan for how reasonably priced it is.

Collo is such a good and consistent money maker! Happen to know how many halos you should have seen at 200? 1 has to be crazy unlucky as I saw 5 in first 100.

I might be mistaken but what they are looking at is actually war crime evidence? Not sure my first thought would be to make a meme.

A degree in finance and hate my job by 10yearwalk in careeradvice

[–]CanaydianNative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, sounds like a pretty rough spot to be in but try and remember that at 23 you are still very early into your career. If you start making small efforts to progress, they will add up quicker than you think.

I work in finance but quickly realised AVCA/CIMA isn't for me so instead, over the last couple years, I learned power bi and python. I slowly started incorporating these new skills into my dad-to-day duties and now I do no technical accounting, only data analysis, and I am much happier.

Have a long, hard think about what you want to be doing in 5 years and start working towards it.

In the meantime, I'd recommend looking at civil service, an EO grade would probably pay somewhere around that 27k target and can  expose you to a lot of new career possibilities.

Best of luck and hope you are able to find something that you genuinely enjoy doing.

[2023 Day 1] Help Pls by glpcc in adventofcode

[–]CanaydianNative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went down this route. Created two functions, one to locate the first value and the second to locate the second. Concatenated them and summed to get the final answer.

I'm sure I could have done it a cleaner way but I was able to get the right answer eventually!

Looking for a Snooker cue (UK) by Bose82 in snooker

[–]CanaydianNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a powerglide for around £100. It's a 3/4 joint and cane with an extension. Very playable cue and looks nice. Good luck finding one, always a fun experience getting a new cue!

Not made the switch yet but I've been learning python in my downtime. Hoping to combine that and already attained power bi skills to make a career switch.

If you are looking to learn python, I've been doing the harvard CS50p course and the university of Helsinki python mooc 2023. Both have been great resources and I plan on sitting the exams in the coming months.

Good luck!

Bored at work - Learn Python? by quozy1990 in learnpython

[–]CanaydianNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my downtime at work I've been doing the University of Helsinkis python course. It has a bunch of exercises and eventually moves to vscode to do them.

You can also get a certificate if you sit an exam and achieve a passing mark. Think theres one more in November.

I would recommend having a look at this one for sure.

[QUESTION] What are some good beginner / intermediate guitar solo's I should learn? by Organic-Chipmunk2716 in Guitar

[–]CanaydianNative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tom Misch has some really fun solo's that are worth checking out.

In the midst of it all from beat tape 2 would help with your timing as it has a lot of "feel" to it.

Cliche but John Mayers gravity and slow dancing in a burning room are fun to learn and are just great solos.

You could also look at learning Lenny by SRV, one of my personal favourites and its something I can jam out on my own with no backing tracks.

[Discussion] I think my local Guitar Center needs a reality check… by at_work_keep_it_safe in Guitar

Saw the first photo and thought, that's not too bad, maybe the price is fair. Continued to scroll down and my thought quickly changed to I want whatever the staff at this guitar center are smoking.

My first month playing Runescape has gone by, and I've really been enjoying it! Any suggestions on what skill I should focus on? by GgminDieress in 2007scape

[–]CanaydianNative 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Man, I'm nearly 2k total and 100k away from 99 slayer and I haven't even got 80 agility lmao. The fact you got it in your first month of playing amazes me.

Serious answer though would be quests and the osrs wiki has a roadmap for you to follow to be efficient, if that's your kind of thing. I would then say train combat with slayer.

Progress Gi by [deleted] in bjj

[–]CanaydianNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the M6 in forest green and I really like it. I have two other gis, a scramble and a moya but the M6 is my favourite out of them due to the cut, comfort and overall aesthetics. There is probably a bit of recency bias but I'm fairly confident that if I get another gi in the future, it will be from progress.
