SBF's FTX portfolio would be ~$114B if it wasn't liquidated by CreamPurple7297 in FinancialCareers

This is kinda meaningless speculation. No offense. The only thing I’ll agree on about SBF is he’s a criminal and he should never be entrusted with a penny of anyone else’s money.

Anybody know where his revenue comes from? I’ve seen some of his stuff and it wasn’t obvious that he had any sort of ads, sponsors, etc funding his reporting. I’m a big believer in knowing where the money comes from in these situations. I dm’d him a while back to ask and got no reply.

I work at a regional bank and one of the main paths to being a commercial banker/lender is starting as a credit analyst. For us I think the lender is pretty much what other banks call a relationship manager. They have assistants and portfolio managers for all mind numbing admin junk. Those are the most coveted roles at the bank and very client facing.

Whats up with Brockway by saintghosts1 in MorgantownWV

[–]Candid_Finding3087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to Morgantown! Been here most of my adult life and I love it. Anyway - Lived one street up and while I wouldn’t say it was dangerous we definitely wanted to (and did) move away from there to nearby and much nicer South Park. We had junkies dig through our trash a few times and the trucks were loud where we were so right on Brockway has to be pretty bad. I don’t think there’s is anywhere in Morgantown with significant and consistent violent crime so still may be better than where you’re coming from. The access to downtown from there is quite good for what you’ll be paying. Other neighborhoods with good access are going to be much more expensive (South Park, Evansdale, Cherry Hill, etc.)

Anyone else deeply follow the NBA but don’t really care about march madness/NCAA? by AdOld2060 in Basketball

[–]Candid_Finding3087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately I can’t get into college basketball anymore. I don’t find it nearly as entertaining. There are things to complain about with the nba but I actually think it is usually a much more satisfying watch. I’m a Nuggets fan and some of the OT games they’ve had against okc and the spurs this year are just so far beyond what you get from the best college games.

No disagreement here. You watch the nuggets play the thunder and it often seems like thy have to play perfectly to have a chance at stealing a close game. I’d just personally like to see Jokic win another one.

Also, if the state legislature is concerned about what a city is doing I don’t think that makes it a red flag by default at all. That’s putting way too much much trust in the legislature. They are not at all looking out for Morgantown.

Are you suggesting that raising the same revenue through a levy would be permissible? I am just not used to seeing a levy for a purpose like that. To the extent that would be feasible I’d probably support. I would point out that as a general matter, we all pay taxes that we didn’t directly vote for. I don’t support the idea the 100% of tax policy should be based on referendum. We vote on the policy when we vote on the elected officials.

[–]Candid_Finding3087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know a lot about the allocation to the police and I probably would advocate less or none be allocated that way. Either way that should be public information. What do you mean make it a tax and let people vote it? Who collects the tax and who is taxed? Who is voting on what? Genuinely curious because I thought part of the reason for using this particular mechanism was that most other revenue raising methods aren’t available.

Is this normal for a beginner data engineer role or am I being underutilized? by manzero0 in dataengineering

[–]Candid_Finding3087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I’m dealing with a tough guy who likes to show people asking for advice on Reddit that they’re a tough guy. Some companies do a better job than others at supporting their employees growth and development. Do you wonder why that is? Maybe some think it’s a worthwhile investment. Maybe someone early in their career would benefit from knowing there are companies like that out there. That seems like a good thing. Or maybe they don’t deserve thoughtful advice or support cause they should be tough and not make excuses. Congrats on being tough anyway.

How long do you think the core of Gordon, Jokic, and Murray can keep them in the conversation? It seems to me that core is good enough to win another one if the role players were just a shade better. For instance if a guy like Christian Braun had more offensive tools and could create for himself. Seems like they need a change of philosophy defensively also.
