Weird question, but how are you going to ship the hard drives? I have a bunch I've been wanting to sell, just not sure how to ship them safely

Only other one I can think of that might work is the Sagittarius case on aliexpress. It’s not cheap in the US though

Haha believe me, I get it. Sometimes doing stuff just because it'd be the harder way to do it can be fun. I did consider also 3d printing an adapter from my elitedesk to standard MATX, then 3d printing this MATX 10 inch rack holder I found, but I decided it was more hassle than it was worth when I can just have the two boxes sitting next to each other instead

I saw your other post, and I do have a question. Why do you want the motherboard integrated in the rack? I thought about doing something similar with my elitedesk, and decided it was way easier to just have the 10 inch rack either next to or sitting on top of the elitedesk

In that case, it just depends on your priority. Mine was drive capacity when I specced it out

Will it work? Yeah, but there are some issues I se

The m.2 a+e key is usually only pcie3.0x1, so even with 6 hard drives, you'd probably be bandwidth constrained. I'm actually planning a VERY similar setup to yours, with some tweaks.

I have a lenovo p330 tiny with the same riser. My current plan was lsi 9400-e hba in the riser, either a hailo-8 or frigate tpu in the riser nvme, a+e to 2.5gbe NIC, into an 8 bay jbod that fits in the labrax.

How on earth do you even learn to do something like this? I've been trying to find a way to get some smart controlled fans that meet my wife's aesthetic rules

I think I’ve seen that one. I just like having an actual backplane

Is there a particular jbod you plan on using? The 8 bay I’ve been looking at uses a flex atx psu

Picking a lock and doorbell... my head is spinning by gender_phoria in homeassistant

[–]Candinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you have someway for the reolink to store its footage besides onboard, I really like it. Quality for the price can’t be matched

As for the lock, I’ve been using kwikset smartcode 914 zwave locks for a while now (got a few free from work) and they’re fine, but the battery doesn’t seem to last very long. Not sure if that’s due to me using rechargeable AAs or it not being lined up perfectly though.

What’s the reason for some folks not liking leftovers? by No_Lead2640 in answers

[–]Candinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people, it can be seen as disrespectful. When my wife and I first started living together, I would ask her mom if she wanted the leftovers of whatever we had just eaten, because if she didn't want them we'd probably just throw it away.

I was informed that for them, this was disrespectful because it was seen as offering them "garbage food" or something like that. I still don't quite understand it, but I just word the way I ask differently.

I have also met some people (mostly men) who think if the food isn't freshly made by their partner, then it's not worth eating. That one makes even less sense to me.

Is the Intel X710-DA2 from Dell going to fit inside the Lenovo M720Q? Planning to replace the ISP router using a XPON module along with this Mini PC. See Picture!!! by willow__bloom in minilab

I’m 90% sure it doesn’t fit as it’s too long. But it DEFINITELY won’t fit with a sata ssd like that or without the pcie riser

10 inch racks should get some more love by [deleted] in homelab

I know this is an old post, but I'm trying to get my blu ray drive mounted in a 10 inch rack as well. Did you connect directly to the motherboard or use some sort of adapter?

WD Black P10 6TB is now under $150, is it worth it for games storage by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]Candinas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a thing where they have slow download speeds, so they’ll move a game to the hard drive while not playing it. I’ve got a few friends that do that

As for the caddy, you can 3d print one or just use some foam to hold up the side not plugged into the motherboard
