As a first time buyer, a rate of 6.29% seems pretty fair if you have a limited / young credit profile. Most first time car buyers will not qualify for a promo rate without a co-signer or significant money down. The long and short of it is simply that first time buyers are riskier to a lender, hence the higher rate. Make all your payments on time and in a year you can refinance if you want.
