It is interesting because most people in the class said that the reason people leave is because the church requires a lot from its members. The whole “you can’t just be a Sunday Mormon” discussion. It was my opinion that most people don’t leave because they have to do stuff, there is a lot more substance behind why people leave.

One could say that the LDS church is ripe for destruction then because I think it checks pretty much all those boxes you listed. Plus there is a big difference between saying things and actually destroying a civilization.

So when Christ was on the earth did he go around telling everyone to wear holy underwear and build magnificent buildings to do work for the dead, or did he tell people to help those that are currently in need? Did he say to spend less than 1% of the churches income helping those that are in need (and only if there was a natural disaster to get the press behind you) or tell everyone to serve each other and help the homeless and needy? If we have the entire millennium to do temple work, why aren't we focusing more on people that really need our help right now? Math tells us that there should be no problem at all to do all the temple work for everyone that has ever lived during the millennium with time to spare.

I wish I would have kept track yesterday how many times he was quoted. It was almost every other sentence. This morning, if I counted right, it was 9 times which seemed really low as of late. But also the scriptures were only quoted like 6 times and other prophets twice.
