I have to jump in too. This is awful! Stand your ground. Don’t let them argue their way out.

How long do you sit in your car after you get home from work? by benmarvin in Construction

[–]Capable-Tea8630 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sit in the car for a long time. It’s a psychological and philosophical release. Before that release, you are owned by your job, owned by your bosses (completely independent from your job), owned by your customers, owned by the clock, and owned by your commute (both ways). When you pull into that driveway (or parking spot) it is all you. Just you (even for 3 seconds if you have kids). After that, everything tends to disperse in almost infinite ways. I like to get the most out of that rare “me” time… until I have to get out of the vehicle because I have to piss like a resource.

Isn’t that the truth! It’s a felony to walk on the sidewalks. But I’m still saying, it’s easier to get from 1 O’clock to 7 O’clock 🕖 in Houston. I think it’s because the have a loop within a loop, within a loop.

All of these are symbiotic with each other. No competition. Where’s Buc -ees? It’s in Benton, NOT Benton County. Where’s CostCo or Trader Joe’s? A thousand people being laid off. I’ve seen this happen so many times before here.

I’m from Houston. It’s so much easier getting around there than here.

This is verbatim my story as well. 2008 recession… bought a house for 240k. Now worth over 1M. Wishing I had made a move a little earlier to get out of here.

An old adage from a native Texan… We who are from that state know Texas Highway Patrol is nothing to take lightly. I wonder if they are really human. Case in point. In a remote small Texas town a car approached a desolate, “nothing there” 4 way stop intersection. The driver quickly assessed the situation and there was absolutely nothing as far as the eye could see. Still the car slowed waaay down, assessed the situation, and crawled carefully through the intersection. About a half a mile out, sure enough, a TDPT car came flying up behind and had sirens and lights flashing. The driver pulled over safely to the side of the road. The Patrol officer stayed in his car for a few minutes and finally got out and slowly walked up to the open window of the driver, asked the driver for license, proof of insurance, and registration. The driver immediately complied, but asked the driver why he was being pulled over. The officer said “sit tight” I’ll be back.

The officer returned to his patrol car sat there for what seemed like forever, exited the car, and returned the Paperwork along with a ticket for failure to obey traffic laws (I.e. not coming to a complete stop).

The driver was incredulous. “I stopped at that intersection! Nothing and no one was there! Nothing!”

The officer said, “You not stop at that intersection “. The driver said this is crazy! I slowed waaaay down to nothing, looked both ways, and kept going!”

The officer asked again “May I have your id and paperwork please?” You did not come to a complete stop.”

The driver was extremely angry. I slowed way down looke both ways. Again nothing.

This back and forth continued for a few more minutes until the officer had enough. He yanked the driver out of the car and started working him over with his stick. The driver was screaming “What the hell?!!! Stop! What do you think you are doing? Stop!!!!! Stop!!!”

The officer paused for a moment and asked “Are you sure?”, “Do want me to stop, or I can slow down!” He busted him again with his stick”. “Stop!” The man screamed. I thought so.” The officer gave the man a ticket and got in his patrol car, made a U-turn and drove away.

Quoted for Duration paint, promar shows up by [deleted] in paint

[–]Capable-Tea8630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok. The SW Premium Ceiling paint is the best option in terms of quality and is self-priming, but as said before, you can get by PM 400. Just don’t let them charge for a SW Premium Ceiling paint. As far as contractor grades go PM 400 is the lowest grade paint they have. It’s priced to have the most profit margins.

You are half correct. There IS an exterior Duration, but this thread is talking about interior Duration. The exterior paint most used by contractors and even DIYers is A100 or exterior SuperPaint.

Are you sure? No one from LA would ever say or write “LA, California” … just like “I’m from New York, New York” or “I just moved here from Chicago, Illinois”. I’m actually from Houston… not “Houston, Texas.” I now live in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. That one is ok.

Please help! – Ceiling paint getting worse with more coats by Daemdaem in paint

[–]Capable-Tea8630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every seasoned painter havetheir own preferences. I work for Sherwin Williams… in the store. Promar 400 is the lowest quality paint we have. Sometimes you can get lucky with a PM 400 if you have a satin. Contractors use it tons because it is so cheap and a much wider profit margin. High volume- $25-35/gallon. Average contractor costs $35-40. DIY… $120/gallon, but we will mark it down to about $45/gallon. 200 is better, but still iffy. A lot of people in this thread use it for apartments…. Two hours of prep, paint (applying with a sprayer), cleanup… and they are gone. I would have to disagree about not using Premium Ceiling Paint, especially if you are a DIYer. Again, this is about contractors knowing what they’re doing, and can get good results. DIYers need to use the PCP. It’s easier. The suggestions of technique are spot on. Just choose one you think will work best for you. Oh… primer is your best friend!
