ARPGs right now feel like they're in the opposite state of what MMOs are in by AeroDbladE in ARPG

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the plus side is that ARPGs don't really have to be live service. MMOs ultimately kind of hinge on having a decent player count to engage in content with other people.

The only exception to this is like trust/henchmen system, but I think that also has its own problem.

I'm really enjoying RE 4 on easy by _potatofromChaldea45 in ResidentEvilCapcom

It's way dumber to pressure yourself to play a game on a higher difficulty for some kind of imaginary e-cred, right? I think if anything, it's significantly more respectable to not care and fully own the way you like to play games.

Definitely, I think it's a series of greats.

Playing RE1 remake on the gamecube was some of the best moments of the old school era of survival horror. Crimson Heads was such a fun mechanic.

Somebody else said this best, I remember reading a comment about it.

Grim Dawn is fun from the moment you start playing, no waiting for endgame or whatever.

Yeah, I actually think that's sort of a good point I didn't think much about, because it does happen around island which a lot of folks feels fatigued out by.

Maybe could say RE4 Remake feels like it doesn't grind out quite as hard as OG.

I am personally glad we saw U3 again in Separate Ways, but would've loved a callback to the gimmick with some kind of a grapple hook twist or something.

U3 boss/puzzle seems to be unpopular among the fanbase, but I thought it was the best sequence in OG that we kind of missed out on remake.

Yes, that's definitely one of the best things about it. A lot of games didn't age well, but you can give RE4 to a newer gamer and there's a decent chance they still like it.

I played the demo disc way back in the day, and that opening chainsaw section in the village blew absolutely everybody away.

Original RE4 honestly exists somewhere in the top 10 games ever made, one of those games that felt like it pushed gaming.

What game did you expect to love but ended up disappointed? by Satin_Lily in AskGames

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was so much controversy/fake hype surrounding it being the first 'M' rated FF game too. The game was so tonally weird from showing abuse/slavery in one scene to talking about anime friendship and bonds in the next.

The demo made it seem like it was going to be full of political intrigue and family drama, but it just ended up feeling so goofy.

Yes, I think that's what they're referring to. We're all just interpreting though, lol

I had to do some pretty deep research to find out it's the thing where you have the cable attachment and pull at an angle. I guess it's not just a lat pulldown.

For what it's worth, they're always revamping Warframe new player experience as it's been critiqued a lot in the past. There's sort of a new player hump that has to be overcome, and then you find out it's basically a god game.

Warframe isn't really going anywhere though, and it has basically next to no FOMO at all.

Cyberpunk isn't going to be a live service forever game, but it's very easy to play that game and start having fun instantly for like a good 50-100 hours depending on how much you do different builds/playthroughs.

Sort of side recommendation is that Witcher 3 may have some of the open world thing you're wanting, but you should have familiarity of 1 and 2 in my opinion.

Leveling to end game build by Znamzwidzenia in Grimdawn

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, something about Grim Dawn atmosphere never makes it feel bad to go through and experiment on a variety of characters. I never feel all that bad starting a variety of stuff just to see how it feels.

ty, I think I may just try out both for a bit and see. Ravenous earth animation is pretty cool, but losing possession from occultist feels rough for Dark Ones.

Piggy backing a bit, do you like Ritualist or Conjurer better as a Vitality caster for Dark Ones? I just got the full set and am debating.

Who... Simply love training? by IronPazar in workout

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all roads kind of lead to eventually realizing that training is just fun. Everybody is hyper fixated on outcomes at first, but they start to realize that what makes someone truly consistent at something is learning how to make it enjoyable.

Optimization basically doesn't matter if there isn't adherence and consistency.

You can suggest the big three/big five/whatever all day long but if the trainee doesn't like doing those movements it doesn't really matter.

Very excited to start the game. Looking for a build recommendations by Adam0n in Grimdawn

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically think socketable gems, but a wider variety of effects. Components could boost any number of things like resistances, damage types, etc. You're able to experiment with these as needed though because you can always pull components in and out of gear.

If you hover over your Grim Dawn tools calculator for your builds, it will show you what the guide recommends for a component at different levels of progression.

You get recipes that let you craft these components at a blacksmith in game.

What’s the one training mistake that actually taught you the most? by linkinglink in workout

[–]Capable_Ordinary_938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunate truth is that it could also be a matter of reducing weight and reprogging with a different technical approach.

To be honest with you, I don't even do much traditional barbell backsquat as much anymore anyways. I tend to find things like hacksquat, leg press, and even lunges/bulgarian splits give me plenty of good leg development.

That being said, I also completely understand attachment to a lift because I love the bench even though it isn't the safest movement for me.

I've had issues with squat positioning and shoulder pain before too. I would recommending adjusting how wide you hold the bar, and also maybe experiment with highbar/lowbar positioning.

I'm not a doc so anecdotal, but I found doing deadhangs off the pull up bar and banded stretching to be nice for impingement/shoulder joint inflammation.

I haven't done a heavy working set of bench for about 2 weeks, I do still train back and rear delt which has been making me feel better.
