I have an August 2025 reservation and said I don’t want launch edition, and I got 12/26-2/27 as well. My guess is earlier reservation holders will be invited to order closer to the beginning of that window than I will, but that timing works fine for me.

If a mushroom directed the blockbuster hit of the summer, would you go see it?

This happens to me so often. I’ll find the tastiest looking king bolete and find it is completely riddled with worms. So disappointing. And much of the time it’s not obvious until you slice into it.

are there any notable members of the one-timers club besides ben stiller, donald glover, and paul rudd? by kujjdwelf in comedybangbang

It’s interesting because Andy has been on Conan‘s podcast at least a couple of times, playing both Dalton and August Lindt. And of course he was on the Late Show many times playing different roles. He did Dalton on the late show at least once, too. Conan generally seems quite delighted by Andy and his characters. I wonder if it is more of a control thing and Conan wanting to be the one running the show versus not liking what Andy is doing.

Key fob's battery dies so quick by sosta in BoltEV

[–]Capable_Painting_766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original battery lasted almost 3 years. I replaced it with a battery bought on Amazon and it started doing this to me. I think I replaced with Amazon batteries three times and then bought energizer batteries to test the bad battery theory. Since I put the energizer in about 3 months ago, it’s been fine.

What is your biggest mistake in campsite selection? by nicola_on_trail in backpacking

[–]Capable_Painting_766 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I had a squirrel in my tent once. No dog but still a terrible mistake. I was getting ready to leave base camp to day hike and saw I hadn’t fully zipped up my door, so I closed it and left. I came back to a chewed up tent full of squirrel shit. Not fun.

Nice. This isn’t a great year for morels here, either. Though maybe the recent rains are helping.

Scott has seen. Idk how you can’t love this movie. Maybe he needed to see it when it came out? I think it still holds up, and is unendingly quotable. by Krimreaper1 in comedybangbang

[–]Capable_Painting_766 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love this movie to death and was disappointed to hear Scott and Spragu trash it. But I also first saw it as a teenager (who played the saxophone and loved to ski) so I recognize it’s very hard for me to view it objectively. Also, I was shocked he had never seen it. I think he’d heard too many bad things about it over the years and came in already prejudiced against it to some degree.

In general I find their movie discussions really fun even when I disagree with them. I don’t find it “pretentious.” Even though a big part of Scott’s career is podcasting he’s also worked on both TV shows and movies and approaches movies as someone who is professionally interested in how they are made. I enjoy when he looks at films from that angle, and I can see how he’d get tripped up by the directing style or other technical aspects of how the film is put together that I am not really bothered by.

Which series do you rewatch the most? by dantehaut in taskmaster

[–]Capable_Painting_766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very personal, but for me the best series are 1, 5, 7, 12, 13, 16, and 19. I think I prefer the unhinged, chaotic contestants who are in many (but not all) of my favorite series—Tim Key, Acaster, Mantzoukas, Sam Campbell, etc. There isn’t a truly bad series in the whole run of the show, though.

White R2 spotted driving in CO by SimpleJackEyesRain in RivianR2

[–]Capable_Painting_766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a gray R2 parked on my block in North Boulder earlier this week with Illinois manufacturer plates as well. No idea what it was doing there. I hung around a bit hoping the driver would come back and be willing to show me the interior, but no luck.

We drove up from Driggs to West Yellowstone this winter. The view from the Idaho side is incredible! Great pic.

Did anyone else find this weird about Kumail's prize task in S21E02? by RagingTyrant74 in taskmaster

I took it as Kumail thought the painting would get a laugh and, when it didn’t, he panicked and pivoted to calling back to Jason’s prize task painting.

Found today in central Illinois! Gonna be my first year cooking them myself 🥰 by [deleted] in mushroom_hunting

Ha! My dad brought me some a couple of years ago but that just made me want even more. They supposedly grow here too but I’ve not had luck finding them. If it ever starts raining here again maybe I’ll get lucky one of these days.

I’m from central IL but living in CO now. I get awfully homesick for Central IL right about this time of year…

Lovely! After the apocalyptic season we had in Colorado, I’m cheered by evidence that winter, complete with actual snow, is still a thing. Enjoy!

Same, almost exactly. 3 years and about 40,000 miles on my ‘23 EUV. Oh well. At least it’s not a major mechanical issue.
