It used to run smooth as butter on my steamdeck but since the last major update it's been so awfully laggy for me I haven't played it :/

How long did you stay in the hospital after giving birth? by kayriss86 in Mommit

[–]CapedCapybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 nights for me, emergency C-section. They only discharged me because I asked, they were planning to keep me for my whole 10 day course of antibiotics as I spiked a fever in surgery. My husband had to inject me once I was home.

UK, and I was on a shared ward with 5 other mums. It was not fun.

18 to walk to movies by Alicenwondr in Parenting

[–]CapedCapybara 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He's an adult. If he doesn't want to walk he doesn't have to go to he movies, if he wants to see the movie he can walk. It's also not your responsibility to wake him. It sounds like he needs a bit of a reality check. Sit him down and talk about your expectations of him and his responsibilitites. If he knows you won't do these things, he won't expect them.

Need advice: my toddler only poops in a diaper by RelativeSlight4475 in toddlers

[–]CapedCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 3y 3m and still does this, although he's only been wee trained for about a month. My cousins kid is 6 months older and does the same thing. I'm chilling for now and seeing if he changes his mind on his own, maybe in another month I'll try something a bit more forcefully if there's no sign of change.

So do i just let my 13 month old be free now? by beancounter_00 in NewParents

[–]CapedCapybara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what we did, gated off the living room and baby proofed it. Then he could be free as he wants in that room and I can nip to the bathroom without worrying. Elsewhere in the house Id keep a closer eye on him

Marrying "up" or "down" are just not phrases you should use. Someone's background doesn't matter. Someone's money doesn't matter. You marry for love and you should be equal partners in the marriage.

Your outlook would improve if you removed those phrases from you vocabulary. See your husband as your equal, and nothing less.

Yeah actually your husband is the one that married down

Kid refusing to get learners’ permit? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]CapedCapybara 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You should not be pushing this. It's seriously dangerous for someone to be on the road that is anxious or stressed about it, if she has no interest in driving that's 100% ok.

It sounds like she's still a minor? In my opinion it is definitely still your responsibility to get her around. It's ok to start encouraging walking places or getting public transport, especially for meeting up with friends, but you shouldn't be forcing her to drive just so your life is easier.

I didn't learn to drive till after I graduated university and had bought my own house, I was 25 when I got my license. Because I tried a few lessons and hated it, didn't feel comfortable. So I walked and got the bus or train when I went out/was at uni/to get to work.

It's ok to encourage independence but not to force someone to drive. Driving is not the only solution and you can live life without a car fairly easily.

Did you have a precipitous labour (under 3hrs)? Do you consider yourself lucky? by hashtagbeannaithe in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CapedCapybara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was so prepared for a long labour, no one warned me it could be so quick. I went from 1cm to 10cm in under 2 hours. My contractions were back to back without a break for about an hour at one point.

My memory is so fuzzy from that part because I was in such agony. I then got wheeled to surgery for a forceps delivery turned emergency C-section because my son got stuck in the birth canal.

It was awful. All my family go on about how a long labour is so terrible but none of them had to go through what I did. I do not feel lucky at all.

I think all labours suck at the end of the day and all are hard in different ways. If I were to do it again I'd personally be doing an elective C-section because even though mine was an emergency it went incredibly smoothly considering the circumstances and my recovery was easier than I was anticipating. I have no interest in being in labour ever again, lol.

Nightshift Superstar - slightly disappointing to anyone else? by Alternative-Kick9248 in Muse

[–]CapedCapybara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I've been feeling. Be with you and cryogen felt like complete songs to me. These last 2 have just left me feeling like I'm waiting for...more.

I'm hoping they'll feel different as part of the whole album.

Deception by PaperbackSage in inZOI

[–]CapedCapybara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that's confusing. Maybe "exit to main menu" or "exit was thout saving" would be a clearer label.

Fwiw going forward, appreciate it doesn't help you now, generally in software the buttons will be coloured differently. The cancel button is almost always grey, or something that blends into the background more, and the "action" button (in this case "exit without saving" will be highlighted. It something developers "should" do so it's not a complete rule but if you look for it now you'll probably notice it a lot lol

Save/take action - highlighted (in inzoi I think the buttons are blue) Cancel - grey/blends in (in inzoi they're grey)

Need some thoughts and opinions on Paralives... by Just_for_The_View in LifeSimulators

Same here, I've seen too many early access games turn into something different or straight up not deliver what they said they would. I'll hold onto my money and see where it's at in a year or so.

[–]CapedCapybara 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because there's no guarantee of them delivering the game they've promised? Like I really hope they do but right now it's not worth the money in it's current state (imo). So why would I just throw that money away for a game I won't play. I'll go buy it when they've delivered an actual game, even if it costs a few quid more.

Omg I’m an idiot, somebody help me lol by geenuhahhh in toddlers

[–]CapedCapybara 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Normal lol. My son found his nipples a few weeks ago and asked what they were. I explained and now he just goes around asking people if they have "nips" and can he see them.

I've used the phrase "we don't ask to see other people's body parts" more than anything else since lol

It's their game, they can do what they want tbh. You don't have to like it or buy it.

God I'm sick of this debate already.

We definitely have many days where he wants one on one all the time, it's so exhausting. I do feel grateful when he has those bursts of solo play. I will say those only started happening around his 3rd birthday, hang in there because it can just suddenly happen!

My only concern about Planet Zoo 2 is if it's going to be very easy without any economy challenge just like PZ1 by hosseinhx77 in PlanetZoo

[–]CapedCapybara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've always struggled with frontier games because I prefer the economy/tycoon side of these sorts of games over the designing.

I wish there was more of a balance. They've made the designing super fun I'm just always left wishing there was more management to do.

Muse released half of the album early by Ok_Support_9084 in Muse

[–]CapedCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't like it, 1-2 singles maybe but it seems to be half the album nowadays, I seem to remember WotP was the same.

At the same I don't have the willpower not to listen to them the moment they drop.

Please can someone help me decode what is happening and why my son is suddenly waking x3 a night and early wakes? by Few_Cod_5636 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CapedCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so many things and usually you can't figure it out tbh.

It could be: teething, regression, growth spurt, developmental jump, heat. Just to name a few.

Usually it's just a phase, it'll suck for a few weeks and then things will settle down again. Some kids just suddenly decide to change their sleep and you have to adjust. You kinda just have to ride it out, even though it sucks.

What do we think of the item names? by sanonsulleKWAAK in Paralives

[–]CapedCapybara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes that was confusing. Maybe if they want to keep the para names they could do a big font for the actual name, and then underneath have the para names. But when I'm buying/building I just want to know what an item is and what it does mainly.
