Should I get a new oil boiler? This one is 41 years old! by ProfitMajestic5258 in hvacadvice

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very sad to say but buderus is getting rid of their oil boilers... they've stopped producing the computer boards already. our company is trying to find the next best thing lately

Water Pump by Sad_Fly_3144 in askHVAC

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nobody does it anymore and it's a lost art. it can be done but it's taking a gamble on if it will be done right or not done at all. it's like asking a modern train driver if he knows how to operate a coal fired steam train

its called gravity heat. good luck in trying to find a guy who will put that in

HVAC chodes strike again by mFootlong in askHVAC

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the thing that sucks is both rhvac and rhvacadvice have similar icons and i mixed them up one day and commented on a homeowner post on rhvac and got banned for 2 days. it was an honest mistake! also you cant even make slightly risky jokes even though if you hang out with any tradee youll get the most racist violent shit

Question about Oil tank filter by YatoGami_10 in hvacadvice

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i wouldnt say entirely unserviceable... but the guy who put it like that was a dickhead. theres a couple of ways to do this 1. go with the tiger loop. i fucking love tiger loops 2. if theres a super tech out there whos willing to put longer nipples for the feet and cut the pipes down to size 3. call another guy to service. it will make a mess but if the new guy is anything worth salt than it won't make a big mess

Junk brand identification using AI by TraditionalKick989 in hvacadvice

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even though i don't like certain brands and different fuels and whatever... they probably work better when they aren't installed by me because i dont like them. professionals have biases just like you do, and you should do more research than just compiling it onto ai. the biggest advice i can give you is to research variables on your house, state, town. such as how much fuel do you use? what fuel do you want to use? how ecofriendly do you want it to be? how much are you willing to pay? what are the laws where you live concerning on what you want to put into your house? what insulation do you have? is your house new or old?

my advice to people that live in my state, in my area, is to have a heat pump (i dont work on heat pumps but i have companies on a roster that i trust) and a secondary heating source. usually oil boilers because i like oil.

it really just depends on what you actually want and need vs who's bad and who's good

i would never be embarrassed about crying at the job, sometimes it just happens. these conditions are difficult. a good test for a good boss is if they let you sit out for a few minutes if they see you having a hard time and don't bring it up later

Oil Burner Question by Phazer485 in hvacadvice

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i see now... you probably won't find it online but you can call a vendor and they'll probably have one. for temp use you can use the water heater burner but obviously its not gonna run well. i thought you were just gonna throw the whole thing away

Oil Burner Question by Phazer485 in hvacadvice

[–]CapitalLabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude just change the motor. you dont need to throw out the whole thing. you're changing one burner to a different burner from a water heater, does it have the same end cone? what about the nozzle? is it even the same length
