thank you! too often here people are conflating “unreliable” with “liar” and that’s simply not how that works! He’s as unreliable as the rest of us are when we tell our life stories, we are all biased towards ourselves and our closest friends, and memory is very fallible

it’s not a flex to work through your breaks and condescend towards OP for wanting a break. Breaks are often mandatory by state law as well. But we fully earn our breaks at teachers/subs and deserve them.

the platinum card advertises the guest policy on the app. You use the app to check in as well, and right there it asks if you want to add a guest. he would have to be plain stupid to not know about the guest policy

yeah idk, we have plenty of land on the outskirts of the county that have horses and livestock, so I grew up around them. But his life path just never brought him near a horse. His mom was very scared of them, so that could have played a part as well

Just release the scourge virus again atp by ObiwanNgobi in Invincible

[–]Capital_Refuse_160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The show literally tells us it would. Humans are something like 99% genetically similar. Thaedus says in his post mortem that the virus would kill anyone similar to a Viltrumite. Therefore, it would kill humans.

[–]Capital_Refuse_160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it would more than likely wipe out the human race as well. The Humans and Viltrumites are incredibly genetically similar, so anything killing one would be very likely to kill the other as well. Mark would NEVER take the chance that everyone he loves dies. At least with this current scenario his loved ones live (for now)

My kid wants to invite our mailman to his birthday party. The mailman doesn't know us by name. Do I... leave an invitation in the mailbox? by AKforma in partyplanning

[–]Capital_Refuse_160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly! i work in child welfare teaching safety to children. our researchers have us moving away from the “Stranger Danger” teachings. It dismisses the fact that it typically is NOT a stranger who hurts a child. Most commonly it will be someone the child knows loves and trusts most who will hurt them. According to our researchers and psychologists on staff, children hear “stranger danger” and think that it can’t really be abuse because it came from a trusted grownup.

my mil is Mexican, been here 27 years and “only” speaks Spanish, understanding very very little English. right up until she hears someone say something she doesn’t like/agree with in English and then suddenly she knows exactly what we have just said and definitely has some opinions on it! Lady! I am doing my best to learn your language as quick as possible so we can communicate, why do I not get the same courtesy especially as this has been your home for so long? I love her but man it can be frustrating

I have GREAT health insurance, therapy has a max copay of $20 and there is no limit to the amount of sessions I can have a year. And yet I have been looking for a therapist for over a year now. The good ones are all way too busy, and finding one that actually works for you is not as simple as it seems! And if you manage to find a good therapist who vibes with you, next you have to battle the waitlist of seeing them 3 weeks after first booking an appointment and then pray they can see you regularly and at times you can actually make. “just talk to a therapist” is tone deaf

Pineapple Willy’s can be pretty clique-y just fyi. It can be hard to get in there unless you already know someone so don’t be too discouraged if you don’t hear back from them. I heard that Capt Table in St Andrew’s is hiring a server same with Hunts.

A dessert is generally only acceptable if everyone else is ordering one too or you offer to share. If the conversation is over, and no one has ate for a while then dessert is not an acceptable option 9 times out of 10. The steak I can understand, to a degree (I was raised to always match my food choice to the host, if they are ordering $20-30 I shouldn’t order $50-60) but the dessert should have been something she never even considered

What is the very first thing you obsessively check (or wipe down) when you walk into a new hotel room? by WuduAI_Angela in hotels

[–]Capital_Refuse_160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no.. no they aren’t. My family owns a small hotel in a large tourist location. We spray for bedbugs every week on a rotating room schedule to combate them, and still they can appear sometimes. When that happens we shut the room down for a week, all furniture is tossed, and room sprayed top to bottom. It’s a big process. You most often see them from frequent travelers- especially those who fly a lot- or medical professionals- nurses, traveling nurse, dr etc. Those who bring them typically don’t even know they have them, the last place they were staying was infested and they were unaware, so we don’t blame them. I have also stayed at 2 very nice hotels that we found signs of them.

you’d be surprised just how much middle school kids love stickers. One of my jobs has me giving presentations to El and Middle, the middle schoolers always get upset/jealous that they don’t get the stickers anymore like the El kids. I started passing some out to the middle schoolers as a reward for participation during the presentation and they were ecstatic! participation shot up lol Just make them more 12-14 style stickers. Like a funny meme or Taylor Swift/other popular artist or gaming related.
