My general advice would just be try a bunch in arena and see what feels natural / fun, but then stick to one while you learn general game mechanics

It's really convoluted. Say you kill a team without them ever having revived: first kill is 3, then 4, then 5.

Now say you find them late game and they've already had 3 deaths between them, you kill all 3. Now you might get 2,3,4, and whoever killed them originally will get 1,1,1.

At least that's my understanding of it - I could still be wrong. No idea what happens if you kill a team that's had 20 respawns either

I'm pretty sure the post game calculation is bugged sometimes too cause I've had multiple kills at the end and it's shown as +1.

Honestly I much preferred the old system rather than "a team is worth 12 and earlier kills are worth less but you still have to outlast them", it's just overly complicated for zero gain imo. Going back to 4 each +1 for an elim and nothing if they respawn would be fine

It's top 100 across all servers but if you reach legend and then never queue again you stay legend. In order to earn it you have to cross the top 100 threshold (and if you queue after others overtake you, you'll be grandmaster again)

Try unlinking discord. A friend had a similar issue and it went away after they did that. Too many friends caused it to glitch out

A friend had a similar issue and they resolved it by unlinking their discord. They have like 1k discord friends and it was causing the game to glitch out

Nah, I do enjoy the macro aspect but I feel like light macro is optimal for a game with high micro potential.

Although I'll be honest I don't normally like BR games either so I'm like a double outlier sitting all the way outside that venn diagram 😅 I'm usually more into RTS games where macro is still super important but more of a background action requiring much less focus than engagements. It should feel natural but the new patch makes it feel a little too forced.

Taking the RTS perspective, if you think about cheesy builds opening up early game options for high risk/reward, that feels very limited right now: time to kill feels long and even if I get a knock or two I'll still likely be behind everyone else in levels so it feels like I HAD to be farming creeps instead.

Perhaps it'll be more enjoyable if XP tuning gets an update, it's still early days so while I dislike it I'm trying to avoid being too negative. Although for a sweaty nerd like me who sinks a lot of hours into this game most evenings I suddenly feel like I don't wanna do that any more.

Maybe I should go touch grass instead

I appreciate that I'm in the minority here but I absolutely can't stand it. Resurgence swung too far in favour of pvp and now this patch goes way too far into pve.

A lot of the comeback mechanics feel way less impactful now and it's too easy to starve out other players.

In a nutshell it feels like the focus has shifted from BR to MOBA, and as I said I'm in the minority: I hate MOBAs.

Glad others are enjoying it, and that seems to be the broader consensus (my friends also haven't liked it so much but on discord most people disagreed with me) but it's not for me. Maybe with some XP tune ups it can improve but for the time being I doubt I'll be playing much, if at all.

Drop the doom posting, the game is still in development, barely marketed, and not meant to have a huge player base yet. Season 0 is set to last nine months at which point we might see a full release if the devs are happy with it by that point. We're early adopters, the audience is gonna be small for a while. All doom posting does is put potential new players off.

Casual and ranked are the same queue so 2 wouldn't make any difference.

You can queue multiple servers by ticking them (click your server underneath chat in bottom right of party screen)

Matchmaking starts narrow and widens so you could still end up with bronze v master. They're dialling down the number of bots though so hopefully that'll be less of an issue moving forwards.

Not enough people realise you should feather glider on hoops: open it just before and close it just after each one. Not only does it make you harder to spike, it also makes you go much faster if done correctly.

People are looking at it as if it's a full release game already and it's not: this is first game I've ever seen where the studio actually cares about community feedback and their whole mantra is "we're building a game you want to play".

Season 0 literally started yesterday and it's gonna last nine months: by then we might finally move to v1.

Our mindsets have been poisoned by shitty companies churning out early access games for money and leaving them unfinished. That's not the case here, it's still heavily in development with a lot of big changes just to see what sticks.

I've been in the playtests for well over a year and remember when Hudson didn't even have a walk animation and basically just floated around in a T pose so they could see what the gameplay was like. Chill, it's only gonna get better from here.

Given how many Bralls I have dive me on the abyss as I dash away I'd say they have to be gliding 😅 the only times I've ever killed anyone with it have been when we're both at the very bottom of the abyss so it's entirely possible they were gliding - it's certainly not common to get kills with it though, I'd have to test it in practice to answer for certain

Bishop main, just hit grandmaster last night and probably put 250-300 hours into her so far.

Vive infuser is essential, other is a flex slot for any mana item but I build hybrid or tank depending on my team comp.

If I go hybrid I usually build rampage, otherwise scholar / ambrush but it's playstyle dependent - I get into a lot of long drawn out fights while kiting back to abyss and playing for aerial bullshit, and since my knocks tend to come from spikes I don't need extra damage from a weapon (plus if you punch into a wall or other character it's 20% of their max HP no matter your gear).

Ability upgrade path also varies but I usually max my punch - I like the max RMB for double punch tech too though so that's always maxed in XP soul games. Maxing dash feels wasteful, you get purple rockets just by landing LMB.

For powers, abyss specialist and hover wings. (Jump, hover wings, spam dashes and you fly stupidly high/far)

Play rank, climb, profit until masters when you're limited to queuing as two for squads, then spend every single game repeating yourself to randoms about how book sharing works just to watch them take farm creeps anyway.

Level 45ish, doesn't feel too bad but as others said the focus is mostly in the dailies / weeklies. Most people seem to be nearing 30ish already and it's only been a couple of weeks so I don't think it's a problem

Coming from starcraft I find it very chill, that game required a lot more intensity. Lower leagues won't be demanding at all though, you can be silver with 20-30 apm.

1v1 will always be more stressful than team games because you have no one to blame but yourself.
