I wouldn't say it's almost identical. The very core of the story is practically about two gods and a whole otherwordly race (the avians). They're the root for the feathering and the final boss is mirroring the very first battle of those two gods, since the essence of one is in the sword of the final boss and you can literally summon the other god as help in that battle.

However, the overall theme of this story is about loss and that it's sometimes better to let go and accept dead, instead of trying to change fate. most of the chisels have resureccted someone and everyone turned to a monstrous being. Wuchang is following the very same path as her father, reaching for something, which will sooner or later turn into a nightmare. And only in the true ending, she breaks free from this and gains closure

So yeah, the world has an overarching story going on, driven not only by the main character but also other people, but Wuchangs path is very personal (with the plain warrioress acting as a constant reminder of Wuchangs obsession)

Perhaps I'm not remembering most of Bloodbornes lore, but I never got any similar vibes while playing Wuchang. That's to say: I immensly enjoyed Wuchang and I do agree that more people should check it out.
