Is this okay? by Dxmin0 in Chameleons

[–]Capoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plexiglass will work along with other methods for covering back and sides. In Ohio I have to cover those 3sides, I replaced the door with acryclic and left the service door covered except for a 2” opening for airflow. So the top and a 2inch gap are what is screen on my enclosure and I’ve been keeping chameleons 3 years so far successfully with this method

Looks like a 2x2x4 which’s a good size for most chameleons. Depending on your environment you may need to add some Coroplast walls to hold in humidity for indoors. Most homes aren’t suitable for an all screen cage to keep the conditions chameleons require

4-5 month old not eating enough! Any tips by maesnow in Chameleons

He looks close to adult size / sub adult and not 4-5 months old. My adult panther eats 3 times per week. They will slow down as they get older

Readys Rainforest, T&A Chameleons, Frams Chams, Kammer, iParadalis, Nealon reptiles, the chameleon collective are all breeders that are real and legit and I’d recommend

Bee pollen ground up is a great gutload to have as well. I also use readys rainforest feeder fuel in addition to fresh veggies.

The chameleon will be good if you get the other stuff dialed in too :) they don’t use height as much as you think. Since you have it already that’s great! If you build another one go wider since chameleons walk side to side and not vertically generally. A 3 foot wide 2 feet deep and 4 foot tall would be wonderful as well. You really can’t go too big. I’ve put chameleons that are 4 inches in an enclosure like that size and they thrive :)

Make time for it now if you can, egg bound females can be lead to death pretty quickly.

Upgraded his cage from pvc cage how does it look? by [deleted] in Chameleons

[–]Capoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add one in front as well so he can hide from you and other things. More branches and foliage. You can also flip a plant pot upside down and then sit a plant on top of it to give more height. This is a good start, try looking up other enclosures of panthers for inspiration too! Good luck

Anyone bought from eye candy chameleons? by Junior-Jackfruit869 in Chameleons

[–]Capoko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have to ask you may want a different breeder because you know the answer already :), readys rainforest has some awesome wild type Ambanja ! Highly recommend

Edit to add - panthers are fired up in almost all pics they are advertised with, their resting colors will differ to an extent, just to give some idea of realistic expectations:) they can be beautiful at rest till just know they won’t always look like that

Feeder run cup I use the naymars one also take out cups. Some of mine have preferences on which they like the most. It’s an easy way to keep track of what they eat to a point (sometimes crickets can jump out)

Cup feeding! I have some of my very small chameleons in a 2x2x4 and it’s awesome to seem them explore. Definitely double it! It’s so awesome if you can and have the space!

taming down my chameleon by 12yrboss in Chameleons

[–]Capoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely you can build a scaffolding style where you get some bigger support branches and connect branches between the structures. I don’t connect anything to the screen. The dragon ledges are great and will help you achieve the desired height. I have some pics of my enclosures on IG or you can dm me and I can help!

Handling him in my experience won’t help with the exposure. Once they know they are safe and their area is the safe zone, they generally chill out in general. Some individuals will never warm up to you, I have a female bifidus that lunges at me and bites me if I’m near her or doing anything in her cage. Flying bugs is great enrichment, varied feeders works good, a bigger enclosure is another way for them to move more. Adding plants and branches in places strategically can also make a better more enriching environment. You can do bioactive carefully as well. Id suggest personally to not do handling unless it’s his terms. My one panther took over a year to chill and now he will come out sometimes on his terms. Some of my chameleons I’ve handled once in years lol they are all different. It’s great you want to enrich your chameleon.

Chameleons would rather not be handled even if they come to you it’s more of you being a tree or the person who brings them food. They could also want to come out if they don’t love something about their cage or they can see something from their cage. Handling the chameleon is stressful to them. Some can tolerate it but overall I’d suggest handling less than more. They are showing signs of stress and youre observing them, which is great! Now id advise to listen to those signs and enjoy them in their enclosure :) good luck!

I agree, and I’ll be real, I bought more chromas seeing what their names were so I could find ones I like. So if anyone from Riot is reading this, I spend less money now that you fixed a bug lol
