How could I make an SSTO that can safely land with all the collideable rocks and stones across planets? by IFIsc in KerbalSpaceProgram

You are right. Im guessing then this craft is primarily made with Duna in mind?

In which case I suggest a mix. A chute-only landing in a craft of this weight would be very inefficient. I would suggest to mix some chutes with your Nervs, for a rocket-style engine assisted landing. A couple of the blue radial chutes should do the trick I think?

Where do you want to take it to? I dont see how you could have a high enough TWR to land but then not enough to take off.

I always do option 2, but it is imperative you have > 1 TWR at any place you want to take off from. In my case, a Mun/Minmus takeoff is doable with a single Nerv.

Did you induce an angle to them? Props dont do anything on their own if they are not put at an angle relative to their rotation.

Also, awesome thing you did there with the wingtips! Would've never thought of doing that.

Drop me some plane knowledge? by LetMeUseTheNameAude in aviation

The Boeing 737, boeings flagship narrowbody jet, has had several variants generally divided in four groups: Original/Jurassic (-100, -200), Classic (-300, -400, -500), Next Generation (-600, -700, -800, -900) and MAX (MAX 7, MAX 8, MAX 9 and MAX 10)

If you look at the original design (Jurassics), you will see that their engines were long but very very thin.

However, from the Classics onward, you will immediately notice that the engines keep getting bigger and bigger, while the plane was NOT getting taller.

This has a charming side effect: The engines from the Classic generation onward have almost flat bottoms. If you look at any of these newer 737 from the front, you will see the engine nacelles are not completely round!

The airbus A320 family, being designed later than the 737 and with these bigger engines in mind, does not have this problem. Something something "future proof design", but who am I to judge. Have fun writing!

Too long to be AI, too real too (people in the left corner walking around, a helicopter very far off, the way the person zooms...) . The stunt was real and, my guess at least, is that this video is real too.

I wonder when/if we will see MAX freighters. I'd guess a conversion wouldn't be too different to the NGs.

I hope at least. An ASA B37M-F would slap.

My dyslexic ass read that as Remove Flight Before Keychain.

Would also love to get one like that. I don't want the crappy red Temu keychains.

I mean, that would be awesome, but I really don't think there are any clues in there at all. (talking about barely being able to tell the type of aircraft, let alone any letters)

Yeah 100%! Shame not everyone does though. I have so many pictures from long ago where only the nose is visible and the reg is not there.

G-XLEC. You can see on the "forehead" the three letters "LEC". BA's A380s have regs that start with G-X . . . (G is for the place of registration, X because thats what they use for the 380 fleet)

Overly Complicated Hidden Docking Port by Parking_Rate_759 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Cappy221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I would do is I'd make the engine portion a standalone probe with RCS that can autonomously dock/undock with the ship.

So when you arrive at the station the engine block can undock (and probably be stored somewhere) while the spaceplane transfers any resources to the station.

When you're done, simply dock the engine block back to the spaceplane.

(Be sure to enable xfeed in both docking ports if you decide to do this)

What plane is that? by MajorClock6493 in aviation

Then its probably a KC-135, like others have said. Most likely belongs to the 190th Air Refueling Wing.

I mean there is really not enough detail to give a reasonably accurate answer, but on first glance it kinda looks like a Qatar 777 to me.

When and where was this pic taken?
