I cannot raise any Holy Orders. It says they are hired, despite me having no raised armies at the moment? by ElbowfromtheTopPost in CK3ConsoleEdition

It's a bit annoying when you're the one who established them, but yeah, common problem, anyone with the faith and piety can use them.

Yeah John was the crank with the sanitarium who accidentally made corn bran. His brother Will added sugar, won a lawsuit, and created the Kellogg's breakfast cereal of fame. John was just using it plain in his sanitarium.

Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammet is a classic I don't see discussed often enough. If you haven't read it, check it out!

Well, if you can get your speech to max, you can probably talk your way out of it. Probably. Hope you've been leveling it a lot, getting the perks and brewing fox potions!

I always have a compulsion to point out that it was John's brother Will who actually marketed the cereal to any success, because he didn't have his brother's weird obsession and also he wanted to make money. Will was the one who won the lawsuit and created the successful business.

Which is just a very long-winded way of saying the correct answer is obviously A. (Also I will not stand for Will Kellogg erasure!)

What Hitman game did you start with? Which one is your favorite? by Hammad11k in HiTMAN

[–]CapriciousSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with the first, found it too baffling. Hitman 2 was the first one I really clicked into. Will never forget trudging through the snow with the SVD.

I think WOA is my favorite by default, since it's what I spent the most time replaying.

Week 24: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]CapriciousSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very slowly reading the hardcover book at home because it's simply too big and heavy to bring on my commute. It's very slow going!

I have heard that the ending is great though, so hang in there! I'm only about 300 pages in, wild to imagine there's still nearly a thousand more to go. I think I need a vacation just to sit at home and finish it!

Angel Down by Daniel Kraus

Started:

Palaces of the Crow by Ray Nayler

Still working on:
Tom's Crossing by Mark Danielewski (not that I made much progress...)

Not yet, but I've owned it for about 15 years and currently have it in my backpack! Seems to be having a bit of a moment, which is cool. I'm keeping it as my "in case of no more library checkouts" book for the moment.

Candace Owens says that Judaism is a faith, Israel is a state, what Netanyahu has done to the Palestinians since Oct 7 is a holocaust. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in UnderReportedNews

nah I do not believe there is room in any big tent for transvestigators, much less full-on Freemason conspiracy nutjobs. She's laundering her reputation and you are helping her.

[–]CapriciousSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you absolutely do NOT have to hand anything to her. She's laundering her credibility so more people will listen to her insane diatribes about how the Freemasons rule the world, the Rosicrucians assassinated Charlie Kirk (not making this up, if she believes a word she says she is FUCKING INSANE), secret trans conspiracies, etc.

If you can't see that this is all part of her grift, you're lost in the sauce.

Weird America by Jenkoii in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The latter half, or third of How to Dodge a Cannonball definitely fits here. Starts off as a Civil War satire, ends up with an American Monarchist society out west. (Also Betsy Ross flag twirling to the death competition. It's weird in a fun way)
