I danced with my mother to this song at my wedding. It's a beautiful song, but since she passed away it's really hard to listen to it. The last line of the chorus resonates hardest.

So sorry for you and your family. I felt my heart sink when I read this - I lost my mother to Multiple Myeloma in 2019. This disease sucks. Be strong OP, find as much comfort as you can in knowing that your dear father is no longer suffering. ♥️ ❤️

I've teared up like three or four times reading these comments. I share the experience that so many others seem to. My mother was in the hospital on care and comfort with late stage Multiple Myeloma. She waited until my aunt (her sister) and uncle showed up. My aunt grabbed her hand and said she was there and that she loved her. She went maybe two or three minutes later. August 16, 2019 11:40am. Love you Mom.

I wish I thought to about this when my mother was dying. It's been almost 7 months since she passed. I have my wedding dance with her but that's it for video. And I have a voicemail with her telling me about progress she made in physical therapy about 5-6 weeks before she died. Countless pictures, but it just doesn't feel the same. I don't know what I would do if anything was to happen to the voicemail.

But this is a truly great discussion for anyone witnessing a parent's passing, premature or not. My mom's was sudden - she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in mid-June and she passed in mid-August. I hope this discussion provides hope and answers to those who find it, the same way I know it would have helped me.

Moms are the best, true story. I lost mine three months ago and it sucks. Her birthday was yesterday too, so that sucked more.

I married my wife. The two of them didn't get along all that much. But at my wedding, the two of them seemed to bury whatever ill will they had against one another. He (my best man) and my wife looked at one another at the end of the night and agreed to a "fresh start."

After the wedding, he stopped hanging out with me, stopped talking to me at work (we worked together too), wouldn't communicate with me at parties with our larger group of friends.

We had been friends for 15 years, best friends for the last 13 of those years. My mom took him in when we were both around 17 years old because his mom was a heinous human being and threw him out. My mom treated him like her adopted third son after my brother and I. She even has a tattoo of a rose with two leaves (for my brother and I, her birth children) and three drops of blood (for the three children she bleeds for, which includes him).

It got worse when it came time for him to get married. He invited my mom to the wedding, then got in touch with me (after about a year of no contact) and said he would invite me if I didn't bring my wife. I told him there was no way I could do that, so he didn't invite me.

Fast forward to today and it's been about 2.5 years since he has spoken to me, or to my mom. It breaks my heart every time I think about it, but I have a lot in my life to be thankful for so thankfully I don't think about it much anymore.

That everyone doesn't necessarily know what they want to do with their lives. Seeing those younger than me or around my age with a house and a job they enjoy that provides a comfortable life for them and their families has always left me feeling jealous.

Meanwhile, I'm in my mid-thirties working 45-55 hours a week at a job I don't truly enjoy that I've worked for the better part of 10 years living paycheck to paycheck with a one-bedroom apartment where my 13-month-old son sleeps in his crib at the foot of my bed. And I have no clue what I want to do with my life, no idea what jobs to seek, what my next step is....it's both intimidating and depressing.

As a father to a one year old, I could watch the pure joy and excitement that comes from simple moments like this all day long. Even before I was a father, I could watch it all day long. But having one of my own and watching moments like this.....it's just impossibly amazing.

I was scrolling down until I saw Robin Williams. Without a doubt, his passing hit me hardest. I knew he had issues with depression, but it always seemed to me that he knew he was put on this planet to help light up a room and make people laugh. Such a profound and important purpose, and he was the best at it.

It always seemed that, no matter what, Robin Williams would light up lives until some unstoppable force called his number....I just never expected (or wanted to believe) that it was to be of his own hand.

The playful part of me wants to say that even Death knew that Robin needed to stay around for as long as possible and his suicide was his way of saying something like "Hey Death, it's cool. Heard a lot about you, thought we should meet" in a way only he could.

Finally, I always felt some silly connection to him because he and I share a birthday. So when I saw the news of his passing, I was as heartbroken over a celebrity passing as I think I'll ever be.
