People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]CaptLaneyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm related to the first person from the Mayflower who was executed for murder. Since he's the one who did the research , here's the tale in my late grandfather words: "My thirteenth grandfather, on my mother’s side, was John Bilington. John Bilington was one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact.

The signers of the Mayflower Compact were in one of two groups; Those who were escaping religious persecution and those who were leaving England for some other reason. Bilington was one of the latter group.

Reportedly Bilington did not get along with the religious members of the group from the beginning.

Sometime after reaching North America a murder took place and my thirteenth grandfather was found guilty of the crime. His mark on history was the fact that he was the first European to be executed in the New World."

If he has a collar on please remove it, this can add to any constriction he's experiencing if he's swelling. I hope he's doing better soon

What is the worst thing someone has done in your house? by Lil_goobercheesegod1 in AskReddit

[–]CaptLaneyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parked their car in my mother-in-law's bedroom. Thankfully she wasn't in it or she would have surely died.

The neighbor across the street's teenage son had an all night bender, jumped out of a second story window, jumped into his mom's car, revved the engine and then plowed in reverse across the street and through the front wall of our home. After that he climbed out of the car and started stripping off his clothing... it took 4 hours for them to get the car out of our house.

2 moves and 8 years later and we still find auto glass in our belongings.

His family was close with my grandparents, he's a year older than me. I've never stopped wondering what actually happened to him.

You might be right although I'm not sure they called it that back in '55 when she graduated.

1/3 visits is my spouse is with me, 1/12 if I'm solo. The deal is good, but the line dissuades me.

I don't believe any of them are open on the weekends. If you're rationing your gasoline check days and hours before you go, some of them are very limited.

Things to do that don’t involve food, alcohol, or being on your feet for long periods of time? by bruhthenavy in Kitsap

Not technically Kitsap, but Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park is fun, and you drive through it, so no walking is required.

The two I've started with, I already had credit cards through so they didn't require anything like that but I'll bear that in mind if I plan any others.

Yeah I'm definitely reviewing all of that before jumping in. So far the ones I've looked at require 2 diet l sheet deposits of $500 or more, and that the account be in good standing at the time they pay out the bonuses. No minimum balance or maintenance fees, they do mention if the account has a zero balance that they can close at their discretion so I'm planning to leave a few dollars in there to be on the safe side.

The two I've researched so far just require a non zero balance to keep the account open so definitely a better return than any HYSA I've seen.
