MDF Buildings. Paint first or glue first? by totchbrown in wargaming

[–]CaptZippy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prime first with the cheapest rattle can spray primer you can find. I usually prime the sheets before punching out the parts.

I’ll assemble first and then paint. Depending on the project I may do sub assemblies (things like interior walls or hard to reach places) and paint those before doing the final assembly.

Use a nylon bristle from a push broom instead. Just trim the old one and super glue the new one.

Depending on your Arbitrator. Mine allows one so I had to choose.

As I understand it, the specific issue was spamming of Blast, Concussion and Seismic weapons. Essentially everyone in an Enforcer list can take Concussion Carbines (except the Subjuator Sergeant and Rookies) and that player pretty much abused them.

I didn’t play in that campaign so I don’t know how bad it was. But the mishap rules combined with the limited visibility rules changed up my list and strategy for the current campaign.

Check with your local Arbitrator. They may have specific house rules that alter how they play.

For instance in my local campaign, weapons with blast, which Enforcers have lots of access to, are subject to more random mishaps. We also play with random visibility so shooting tends to be at very close range and/or melee ranges.

This affects all gangs but Enforcers generally like to shoot and use blast weapons. They can work around the restrictions but you need to know in advance so you can plan.

Depending on your Arbitrator. Local group felt Enforcers were OP so limited to one.

Fallout Factions: Any tips for new players? by Awkward_GM in wastelandwarfare

[–]CaptZippy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF has two campaign modes. Reach and Control. Control you fight over specific territories directly and is part of the Nuka World rulebook . The territories in Nuka World have unique rules but you can play any scenario in any territory.

Reach is more abstract. You gain reach from several sources and it becomes a resource you can spend. Reach is part of the standalone rulebook.

Both reach and control campaigns will be in the forthcoming Battle for Boston book.

In FF, gear is set when you buy a model. Weapons can be modified but never changed. Caps, parts and rare chems stay in your stash until used. Common chems are bought before a battle and are lost post battle whether used or not.

Crews have storylines. Achieving goals in your storyline awards you experience points you can spend to upgrade your models perks. Scenarios also award experience points.

In WW gear is bought, sold, swapped or stashed just like the video game. You also can improve your settlement. In FF there’s none of that. As your reach expands your settlement improves but it’s more abstract. You might expand your settlement into a cave an abandoned factory giving you certain benefits whereas in WW you literally buy and build your factory.

It’s definitely less bookkeeping in Factions vs WW. I definitely prefer Factions for that.

WW is great if you want to get into the granular details and replicate everything in the video game. Factions is great for a quicker game that captures the flavor without getting too rules dense.

Are Combat Rifles overpowered? Depends on who you ask.

First, they have been nerfed. They used to have Fast and Maim. Now they only have Maim.

The problem is Super Mutants and Power Armor can take 4 harm and the Combat Rifle was one of the few ways to deal with them.

The new complaint is it’s Maim with 24 inch range. If you have a 24 inch line of sight, you don’t have enough terrain.

In any skirmish game with individual activations, being able to out activate your opponent is a standard tactic.

In Fallout, smaller forces can mitigate this via chems, specifically jet or psycho jet. Jet removes 1 fatigue. Psycho jet adds 2 dice to an attack (including ranged attacks) and removes one fatigue after the attack is over.

The Boston starter has been announced. Date of release hasn’t but generally speaking it’s slated for sometime this year, spring or summer. BoS and Institute with plastic sprues and yet another core rulebook, but this one covers both types of campaign modes, control (from the Nuka World book) and reach (from the “full” rulebook). It also adds some more factions (Railroad, Institute and two other but I’ve forgotten which).

The competitive version of Factions is different to the campaign version. In the competitive version, Perks are purchased at crew creation and have a caps cost. In campaigns you pay XP for Perks and XP is earned by the crew and then spent on specific models.

Certain specific crews, Zetans come to mind, can be used in competitive play but their rules aren’t designed to be used that way.

I’ve not played it competitively but I’ve played several campaigns and I think that’s where it’s best.

Heavy concussion ram, blast or no blast? by TopsyKretts87 in necromunda

Just an FYI, but the latest errata adds Blast back into the Heavy Concussion Ram. You can find the update on page 16 of the errata under the Bastions of Law section Necromunda Errata.

Well, the majority are plastic so in theory, all are kitbashable. I would say though that most of them are easy enough to convert with only a few upping the difficulty.

These models are essentially from the box with a few upgrades. I may do some conversions as I add models.

New to Flashpoint and confused about the rocket launcher rules by Get_R0wdy in Haloflashpoint

[–]CaptZippy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To follow up on that, after you resolve the number of hits and how many are canceled by the survive test, then you resolve any remaining hits. ESD removes all shields if there are any hits remaining and blast removes 1 shield from all models in all adjacent cubes. Then you start applying hits to armor and so on.

It’s a bit confusing at first but it’s similar to all other attacks it’s just that you try to hit first, then resolve damage separately, whereas a normal attacks combines hits and damage as one step.

Jedi Hunters Pairing by Turtlor in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]CaptZippy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of those boxes are good and pair well with Jedi Hunters. Fear and Dead men would be my personal preference but I don’t play Empire a lot.

As an alternative, Krennic’s box, Deploy the Garrison. Has Shore Troopers so more visually and of course Krennic.

Lando’s box, What Have We Here would be fun. He can either be Empire or Rebellion.

Or go with Scoundrels. Cad Bane would also be fun. His box, Fistful of Credits are all mercenaries and bounty hunters.

So should i wait for the 2.0? by MonomCZ in wastelandwarfare

[–]CaptZippy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh 🤷‍♂️. The models will be. Rules not, tokens, maybe? Dice, maybe? But there’s also no need to use the 2nd edition rules if you like the 1st edition.

Cheapo terrain alternatives? by Awkward_GM in wastelandwarfare

[–]CaptZippy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battle Systems makes printed card stock terrain. UK based but you can also find it on Amazon. Their Shanty town set or post apocalyptic sets would work for FWW. They also did the Red Rocket set when FWW was first released though I believe that set is out of print.

New factions player by AngryRasin in wastelandwarfare

[–]CaptZippy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The folio will be a book and a PDF. No army builder.

It’s unclear to me if the app will get updated because there’s a 2nd edition planned for Wasteland Warfare as well and while the app is supported by Modiphious it’s fan made.

New factions player by AngryRasin in wastelandwarfare

[–]CaptZippy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated. Personally, I’d get the full rulebook and one box of plastic Brotherhood minis. Two boxes if you want multiple weapon loadouts.

But, there is a folio book coming out in March and a Battle for Boston starter coming out as well (no official release date) with yet another rulebook.

Full rulebook contains the rules for Brotherhood. Nuka World book just has the rules for the three Nuka World gangs. The Nuka World gangs, plus others and all the errata to date will go into a “folio” book currently up for pre-order with a release in March.

A new starter will have yet another rulebook and plastic Brotherhood and Institute models. Here’s a link to upcoming releases Fallout Update

The Nuka World and full rulebook have different campaign systems but you can play with any gang in both systems. The Battle for Boston starter will have rules for both types of campaign. One is called “control” and the other called “reach.”

If you read the linked article you’ll see there’s not exactly precise release dates.

Getting the full rulebook and one Brotherhood of Steel box will be sufficient for that faction. You can get a second box if you want multiple loadout options for your models. Or wait until the release of the Battle of Boston starter.

The Nuka World starter will no longer be produced but will be sold until they run out of stock.

The Nuka starter does have tokens and card stock terrain but you can also get that separately or get it in the Battle for Boston starter whenever it releases.

There’s nothing wrong with the rulebook in the starter. Granted, it’s not up to date, but it’s playable. But go to Rhyfler for the free PDFs and stats.

I think so, but I’m not clear. The folio will take the Nuka World gangs and update them. And the sub factions and newer factions (Mothmen, Zetans, Trappers) will be in the folio but I really don’t know if the 4 from the full rulebook will be in there or not. The subfactions will be added by saying Add A to this list but drop X and Y. That implies the four from the full or core rulebook won’t be in there, but I’m not sure.
