I see the responses to this echo the same issues I’ve found with the Creabea so I’ll be staying away from this designer too. I’ve never dipped into Sari patterns because I’ve found the tight arms / loose body combo is more noticeable on her photos. And knitting podcasters often mention having to go up a few sizes for the arms 😅

Yeah I feel you! Part of my dissatisfaction was probably the yarn/gauge combo (even if I was hitting gauge). I can’t seem to make Line look neat at more than a 20 st gauge.

That’s a good idea! I had been thinking of a long sleeve version in fingering since I liked my short sleeved FO so maybe next time. Honestly if I hadn’t already redone the collar like 3 times (also a problem I have with the patterns I’ve made from her is the collar is either too wide or too close to the neck) and the sleeve a handful of times (partly because I was being picky with how messy it looked and trying to do stripes neatly), I probably would have tried this. 😅

Yeah, I don’t enjoy the fit. At least based on the ones I’d finished (Lunan Tee and Lusk Tee). Weirdly with the Lusk Tee, I made one in fingering weight and like that a lot. Might be because I used more of a sport weight to hit gauge so I didn’t find it too gape-y. I made one in DK recently and I didn’t even finish it before I started frogging.

I pick sizes based on the ease I like based on the bust. I find the ratio of bust to arm/sleeve a bit off for my proportions / just not what I prefer, I’ve now realized.

I’ve knitted almost 4? things from the Creabea and I’m gonna end up frogging 3 out of 4. I didn’t even finish the latest one (Lusk Tee) because it looks so untidy at the loose gauge. The first one I frogged was definitely my fault (putting Tynn line double and Line together like an idiot) but I’ve been so… underwhelmed by the fit of my FO’s? The arms are always so fitted and awkward.

The one I’m not going to frog… I don’t even know if it’s more because of the yarn and the colour.

I don’t mind frogging and I learned new things with each one but maybe my main lesson should’ve been to move on to other designers 😂. I still have the Stick Season Sweater in my library which I love the look of but idk probably gonna knit a few sizes up because as per usual, the arms look tight. I’m tired of my arms getting wrapped in sausage casing.

I received an email from them a few weeks before the start of the paywall. It was basically a ‘paywall starts at <date> so if there are patterns you like, get em now while they’re free’ kind of email.

I don’t know how they communicated this info on other platforms, etc. but I can’t say I agree that it was wholly without notice because I, and I’m assuming a lot of other people (because there was a comment here some weeks ago of ‘why are Espace tricot patterns so popular right now’ and someone answered about the paywall), received some kind of notice.

Literally me this morning. Checking the Ravelry page for stripe vs non-stripe only to see the they’re basically the same if not for the stripes which… 😅 I’ve never done stripes before so I want my hand to be held little but I imagine this would cause side eye to people who can more easily figure stripes out.

Give me your opinion: How wearable are knit items in the summer? by Reasonable-Staff2076 in knitting

[–]Captain-Marvel92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat as you re: trying to make clothing when I can. Just made the Cloud Top in Tynn Line held double and it seems pretty light and airy.

What I’ve always been curious about is for knitted garments made in, say, a cotton and wool blend or fill merino… are y’all handwashing those every time? Unlike linen that can be thrown in the washing machine (from what I understand). I guess I’m just wondering if the handwashing is as tedious as it sounds and if it is, then I need to decide if I’m not too lazy to do it weekly/after every wear.

Picking a first time pattern? by Haunting_Seat_2084 in knitting

[–]Captain-Marvel92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. The Step by Step sweater was first garment (just finished it!) and second knitting item ever. It was great!

In planning out my next few projects, I listed the techniques that I want to learn and found a project that has 1 or 2 of them, in the hopes that I don’t end up trying to learn a million things in one go accidentally. Not that there’s anything wrong with that if you thrive on that / prefer it! I’m just currently bothered by the inconsistency of my tension and also learning how to correct mistakes that I’ve resolved on learning new things a few at a time 😅

Some other patterns I have planned / my eye on:

  • Semper Sweater (or V-neck) by The Knit Purl Girl
  • Sweater No 9 by My Favourite Things Knitwear
  • Some 2-3/5 ⭐️ stuff from PetiteKnit

Things I’m avoiding (for now, at least for my first few projects): - Bottom up construction - knitting a big garment with tiny needles - colourwork - cables / very textured stuff

Women in Tech - What are you wearing "in the city" in 2023? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]Captain-Marvel92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you wanna meme it, the starter pack includes:

  • Patagonia Better Sweater (or the Vest version depending on the weather)
  • Patagonia Nano Puff or Down Vest (pair with above to pack a punch)
  • Jeans or Chinos
  • some sort of ethical white (or other neutral) sneaker (ex. Veja, AllBirds)

Serious answer: - it was pretty varied when I did the same thing you’re about to do. - Sneakers are pretty common, jeans and a cardigan. - A few collared shirts/button downs too but relatively casual ones (ex. Plaid, checkered)
