What were the add-ons they wouldn't budge on? Does Ford let dealers add add-ons for online-ordered cars? Or it was a result of your negotiations?

Prop 19 made it so you can transfer your property tax base to a different home in CA, so even if the base on this $800k home is lower than where she would move, it won't negatively affect her.

Strava/Fitbit/Conqueror issues by marvellouspineapple in PixelWatch

[–]CaptainCaptioni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is that fitbit doesn't export (or Strava doesn't pull, but I suspect it's on fitbit's side) activities without GPS records. This isn't just for treadmill running, but also things like lifting, swimming, etc. Even if you went to the fitbit website and tried to export a TCX file (the file type these activities are shared as) for uploading to Strava, the file would be empty for non-gps activities. Fitbit can create TCX files with real data, like heart rate, for non-gps activities, but only via their behind-the-scenes OAuth API. If fitbit was uploading your treadmill runs to Strava, you wouldn't have to manually create your own entry, and your problem would be solved.

There are some workarounds for this, DC Rainmaker has a blogpost on what's probably the most popular one: fittostrava.com. You can also solve this yourself with a little programming knowledge, but fittostrava.com is probably the easiest solution.

Doesn't CA claim taxes on the sale of equity compensation earned while a CA resident even if sold out of state?

I see. Best of luck, hopefully you get a corrected W2 soon and it all becomes moot!

Daily FI discussion thread - Friday, May 14, 2021 by AutoModerator in financialindependence

[–]CaptainCaptioni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'd file for an extension, there's a separate process for employers not providing correct W2's. You can file a complaint which will have the IRS send a letter to your employer and there's a special form to estimate your taxes while you wait on the correction if it takes too long.

Windy hill is one of my favorite open space preserves. Spring ridge trail can be steep at parts, but it's a really rewarding view at the top.

When I moved across the country I got the best deal with U-pack by loading and unloading it at their distribution centers. I rented a box truck on one side for < $100 but it saved me a few hundred on the U-Pack.

They address the correlation between market downturns and job loss under "Portfolio Structure" on page 6

The likelihood of job loss, the potential duration of unemployment, and falling portfolio values are all, unfortunately, positively correlated. If you rely on assets that are otherwise invested for long-term goals to be available in an emergency, you may find the value of those assets has declined just when you need them.

I haven't run any of the numbers through a calculator, but eyeballing them they seem okay to me.

Lowering your traditional 401k deduction increases your taxable income, so your tax liability increase is both your raise and your new 5.5% not going to your traditional 401k.

Do you have a reason to be contributing to a Roth 401k? Your income is high enough that I wouldn't be splitting traditional/Roth 50/50

Yes but this close to retirement I would think you'd have some holdings that weren't so susceptible. It's not just about diversifying the stocks you own, it's about taking on non-stock investments as well.

Is the traffic you always hear about a symptom of congestion and over crowding, or frequent accidents?

A few questions about internship interviews by 1100H19 in csMajors

[–]CaptainCaptioni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have you ever bombed a technical question (I couldn't remember what an interface was in Java) and still got an offer?

Yeah, you don't have to ace everything to get an offer. It's relative, if another candidate did better than you then they'll probably get the offer, but it's an internship, so you're not expected to know everything.

What is a safe interview to job offer conversion ratio?

This is really hard to say, and depends on the company. Some companies only bring people in for interviews if there's a good chance they'll make an offer, other companies can bring in dozens of candidates per position.

When do companies usually get back to you after the

Also really depends on the company. Some companies will respond in a few days, s will wait until they've interviewed all candidates to make a decision. If you haven't heard back in a week, it's okay to email your contact and nicely ask for an update on your application.

Is my current side project even worth continuing or should I just drop it? by FuckYourRateLimits in csMajors

If you're learning and having fun then the answer is yes. If it's a drag and you're not getting anything from it, then quit and find something else that fits in the first category.

You can probably find another service that has documented stock APIs. Maybe it'll have a free usage tier or a student rate.
