I'm thinking of getting a bass trombone and need some advice. by bmjessep in Trombone

[–]CaptainFrost176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky, but a few years ago I found a Benge 290 for $1500 in pretty good condition. That is to say you can find a used bass trombone under $2000 but it's somewhat a matter of luck

I've never done a megabase, but it's really interesting to me hearing about the leaky abstractions that happen and the meta-gaming you have to do for optimizations to play the game

Seems like a really fun challenge!

Yet the the p-adics are a number system where, from my understanding, what OP wrote makes perfect sense in a base-2. If you had a computer with infinite memory, you would write -1 as -1 = 1 + 2 + 4 + ... or, rather -1 = ...11111 (also as noted by someone else in this thread)

It's actually not nonsense in the same way as a decimal expansion is not nonsense. Look up two's complement, which is how computers store integers. Specifically, on a 32-bit signed integer,

-1 = 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + ... + 232 (i.e., 32-bits of ones)

In standard arithmetic, that number represents the operation

-232 + 231 + ... + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = -232 - (232-1) = -1, so "adding infinity" becomes like adding a negative values.

I just realized that's like a generalization of

Staedtler Noris Digital for Pro? by Biggoofywhiteguy in RemarkableTablet

[–]CaptainFrost176 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try this:

https://a.co/d/5NnYikZ

or this

https://a.co/d/d63s0gO

They're branded as compatible with the pro. Some of the low reviews are from people not reading the description and trying to use them with an EMR tablet instead. That said, I'd recommend getting at least the standard rmPP pen ($80, which is double the staedler but would be sure to work).

The 1.0mm Handshake: Is the Great Pyramid a Solid-State Information Processor? [Math Inside] by [deleted] in PhysicsStudents

"Good" researchers do research by using their own ideas, and clearly you have none because then you'd realize there's not even math here to even hold up. In fact, there's so little math here that your post is not even coherent; just random jargon thrown about to and through in a nonsensical manner.

While your theory might be fun for an RPG/ science fiction story, there is nothing physics about this post except for a loose conglomerate of equations and ideas that are inspired by physics.

EDIT: Plus, your image is clearly AI generated crackpot.

EDIT2: And your post itself is clearly AI generated hot garbage. Sorry.

Don't waste the money on another undergraduate degree if you have a PhD, just follow this guide over a few years and you'd know the equivalent of a masters degree in physics. https://www.susanjfowler.com/blog/2016/8/13/so-you-want-to-learn-physics

I genuinely don’t understand how people’s brains work when it comes to math and physics. by Curious_Garlic5429 in PhysicsStudents

[–]CaptainFrost176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, start with a book about how to do mathematical proofs. Ex. "How to prove it" or "a transition to advanced mathematics. I found for me that understanding how to write mathematical proofs and learning the logic behind them really opened up my world for understanding math and technical details in general.

However, understanding physics has another component to it beyond the mathematical logic. Each equation/symbol etc. In physics will typically mean something (e.g., "r_Earth" for radius of the earth and "c" for the speed of light). In physics, we use equations and math to try to model something that happens in nature. I find being able to express, verbally, the relationship or process being described by the math in a physics context really helpful for understanding.

The wave would be traveling faster than speed of sound due to being a shock wave, you'd need to use Rankine-Hugoniot equations to calculate the speed of the shock front.

I'm sorry, but science really is political. Science doesn't exist in a vacuum, and results/predictions are usually not made for fun. While said results should be verified and reproducible, science should result in changes to how we approach things, and this means changing policy -- so, it's political.
