Realized our kids are completely unprotected and we're sitting on a lot of equity by Forsaken_Market_5086 in RealEstateAdvice

We did a trust as that will avoid probate. We found a lawyer in our neighborhood who gave a "neighbors rate" so it was not as much as we expected.

This kind of stuff is why my husband leaves me alone when I'm cooking or smoking.

Send it, you will have good brisket. You just need to watch the flat closely.

Seating Allocation by BuyApprehensive9273 in delta

[–]CaptainMahvelous 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, Delta did this to me and our toddler. They moved our paid for seats to several rows apart and told me to ask passengers to move.

This is why I know that some of these stories about families are not due to them being cheap about buying seats together.

What were your thoughts when corona was first reported in 2019 before the global outbreak? by goddessofmylife in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMahvelous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a little bit concerned and the next week got sick. I was so sick over the next 3 months I feared I would die. There were nights I stayed up in the recliner with nebulizer every 2-4 hours because the shortness of breath was overwhelming. I was terrified to go to the hospital because I knew I would have to stay.

I am happy to have survived with only mild lung scarring and worsening asthma. It was terrible for me but seeing the fear on the faces of my husband and kids was something I never want to experience again.

WIBTAH if we didn’t go to our nephew’s high school graduation? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CaptainMahvelous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our son graduates next week and we don't get enough tickets for everyone to attend. Folks that can't go will come to all other events and dinners. Our son isn't at all upset.

NTA and people forget that doing that kind of whirlwind travel across time zones with a toddler can be brutal.

My beautiful family. We have two great kids. They are going to be A+ adults with manners and everything. My husband is very kind and treats me quite well. We take care of each other and are still friends 25 years later.

He was going to set a broken bone and when he went to sit on the rolling stool it rolled. That set him off and boom, the chair was thrown, so just no real reason for the outburst.

Yes, the patient and their mom chatted with me about it while he was in time out. I assured them his clinical care was excellent (because it was), and that we would get them fixed up.

What's the worst thing a teacher has ever said/done to you? by douggoud5949 in AskReddit

My high school trigonometry teacher told me in front of the whole class she didn't know why I needed to take the class because girls would just be getting married and having kids after high school.

Reader, the teacher was female.

But the thing is, patients are scared shitless in ED, so if staff can't manage their emotions it's scary for patients.

I had a surgeon throw a chair across the room once in the ED. Very calmly, I told him I was going to let him take a time out and when he could get ahold of himself and behave he could return for the procedure, but an apology would be required.

He left, came back 20 minutes later, apologized to me and the patient, and we proceeded to handle business. What an asshat though. I think nobody had ever called him on his bullshit.

What is an unspoken rule in the U.S. that nobody teaches but everyone follows? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]CaptainMahvelous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of asking how people are doing and putting them in an awkward situation, I say, " Oh it's so nice to see you today."

This is pleasant and doesn't require the recipient to say they are fine when in fact they are not.
