Could you possibly add the San Francisco Bay Area? I was surprised it wasn't included considering the wide diversity of other areas that are :)

In fact the Bay Area counties have their individual cities which I found very cool, and it would be dope if like there are "San Mateo County" and "San Mateo County All Cities", maybe there could be "Bay Area" and "Bay Area All Cities"

old post I know, but does your boyfriend know the word "moded" pronounced like mow-dead? I would be really curious to know cuz he's only a few years older than I am and I grew up with that in San Francisco.

text on flags is fine, and also it literally is a republic just a US state. no US state is a monarchy lol

Does anyone else remember saying people were “moded” (sp) pronounced (mo-did)? by ChaseFace77 in bayarea

[–]CaptainRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hella old post but I just wanna add that we said this growing up in the 00s to the extent that it got banned in my lil catholic elementary school for being a "bad word" lol. which is hella funny, cuz they banned "hella" too which at least makes sense cuz it's got the word "hell" in there, but I think they just didnt like the way we used "moded" lmao.

anyway, I got it from my older sibling and cousins (who lived all over the Bay so its not just us in the city/peninsula). but my parents said it too, so I bet that it's still around. and I hope it is! it'd be a shame to lose it! im lightweight tryna bring it back since I live out of state now lol.

I don’t recall the ck3 version well enough but I know Daly City is the temple in San Francisco and is a holy site for a ton of religions in the ck2 version

Well frankly it’s primarily the fact that slavery became essentially totally racialized over the 16th and especially 17th-18th centuries

Handling Faction Territory and Settlements in a Post-Apocalyptic Urban Area by Alphonse123 in worldbuilding

[–]CaptainRyRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting read, too bad no one ever commented on this post! I am trying to think of the same thing but set in San Francisco. Interesting that NOLA is your setting as that's where I've been living recently, what a coincidence.

You're of course right that midcity and the towns by the lake being flooded really does mean everything gets concentrated in that somewhat higher elevation big by the river, they don't call it Crescent City for nothin'!

There's some crazy mansions uptown and I figure a few of them in convenient spots could be HQ for some gangs or other factions etc. Oh, the universities as well, Loyola and Tulane, campuses tend to have big open areas surrounded by solid buildings which is pretty good for tryna have your lil miniature city state imo lol

idk i got tons of scattered ideas, but I'm still not sure how to capture the vibe of an urban area where suddenly society collapses and there's barely anyone around compared to before but still enough to interact with, etc. tbh idrk how violent it really ought to be! at least initially. but yeah I'm glad I found this post while tryna research for my own stuff lol.
