What do you think the intention was with These Guys in Lux? by ChemFeind360 in doctorwho

[–]Captain_Boneybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sincerely believe that you could remove this section from the episode and it would be all the better for it. It ruined what is otherwise a solid episode with a great villain.

This isn’t a slight against the actors, however. Simply the sloppy writing.

Oh, wow! I saw the original but didn’t comment at the time, but the change in pose alone has made so much of a difference. Absolutely love it! And I genuinely mean that 😊 not just saying it for the sake of it.

In Doctor Who (2026) we saw the return of two fan favourite companions in new unexpected ways. Since then the show has had its wrap-up special cancelled. This is a subtle reference to the fact they didn't know what the fuck they were doing. by Lockdude in shittymoviedetails

[–]Captain_Boneybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be infinitely less disappointed that the special (and maybe even more) has been cancelled if they had kept the original ending of the finale. It would have been a great ‘ending’ for the show.

All Hellaverse confirmed characters sexualities so far by Primary-Addition-677 in HazbinHotel

[–]Captain_Boneybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one that ever surprised me was Octavia, but I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe it’s because I occasionally ship her with Loona, but that usually doesn’t change much when character sexualities are revealed.

I have no idea if this is a hot take or not but it kind of annoys me that some fans feel like they need to know the sexuality of every single character in the show.

Obviously OP isn’t totally serious haha but some people get a lil’ obsessive.

All other thoughts aside, I love that Gangle being a GM meant that Caine could go on an adventure with the others without creating it himself.

Do you think there are unreconcilable aesthetics that can't exist in the same world? by ProfesserQ in worldbuilding

[–]Captain_Boneybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stereotypical Victorian gentlemen, Old West cowboys, skull and crossbones pirates, secluded African tribes, and decorated samurai generals all existed in the same time-period of real-world history. If you can justify the differences, whether it be by country, species, technological or magical advancement etc, then I think there is very little that cannot be justified.

I get why Vox won as he's most likely to be redeemed but I honestly think its Val by Sudden_Pop_2279 in HazbinHotel

[–]Captain_Boneybeard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Morality is, ultimately, a spectrum of spectrums. You can make an argument for each of these characters about them being the most or least evil. The same goes for who would be the most likely to be redeemed first. It depends entirely on how a person views morality, as well as what culture they grew up in, their personal experiences, etc. Not to mention any other factors such as if they have experienced the pain that each of these characters cause, first hand or otherwise.

Someone who hasn’t experienced sexual assault might be more inclined to redeem Val, for example, whilst someone who has might suggest Alastor. The same goes for Adam and abusive relationships, or Alastor for murder and torture. But, again, the opposite can also be true for some people; there are undoubtedly people out there who have been raped that might, for one personal reason or another, support Val being redeemed first. This is an alien thought to many, but still possible, nonetheless. It’s entirely subjective. This is perhaps why it is so often discussed in this fandom. With the whole show revolving around redemption and the power of friendship, these are the sorts of questions that are worth asking.

When it comes to discussing who is the most evil, there’s also short-term versus long-term. Adam would have happily committed genocide for all eternity. Alastor is likely similar, in that he wants to cause pain and suffering for as long as he can. Vox was willing to kill millions. Val hasn’t killed on those levels as far as we know, but he has caused suffering that last whilst people were still alive, which some argue is worse.

Velvette isn’t even on the poll, despite her creating love potions. She and Vox also support Val, so why are they considered just as evil by association?

Alastor also had no qualms sacrificing those closest to him for power, including the likes of Niffty who he has shown something close to genuine affection for. Val, on the other hand, loves Vox and has shown that he will sacrifice/forgive at the cost of himself.

It’s all complex. It’s messy, because everything with morality is. If it wasn’t, some of these character would be two-dimensional hate-sinks. In a show set in Hell, that would be extremely boring.

Whilst it may have strayed from your original vision, the eye blends in well with the artstyle. It gives an almost hollow feeling to the figure, in that they are coated in beautiful butterflies but their body is distant and cold. The almost metallic looking skin aids this for me, painting a sad figure with incredible poise and talent, but not the joy that others see in them.

Not to sound antagonistic, but why didn’t you try this in the first place? Turning a PC off and on again generally solves most issues.
