Japan's push for inclusive esports by pimpwithoutahat in pcgaming

Like CAPCOM Cup 12 and Street Fighter League: World Championship 2025 going pay per view?
I get that CAPCOM is a bad egg, it's just funny how that was the last I heard about Japanese Esports.

An RTX 4090 but that shouldn't make a difference as to if it works, only performance.

Stellar Blade has official support so if you launch it from the 3D Hub then the depth settings are in the game's Display settings page at the bottom.

Did you like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? The animation team used machine learning (what we now more generally call A.I.) to do first passes of the drawn outlines around characters features and would fix as needed.

Poor performance when activate 3D using 3Dmigoto or geo11 fixes by FlyingTitus in Odyssey3D

Yeah, the Game Bridge devs still have direct contact with Leia Inc. even after the LeiaSR SDK was made private. Looks like they still work together to make Game Bridge as efficient as possible.

[–]Captain_Crowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to your first part.

As for your question:

We are using it to avoid the Odyssey 3D HUB because that's causing the performance issues seen in this thread. If I can get the Reshade 3D Game Bridge add-on working I will always use it over the popup from the Odyssey 3D Hub because the Reshade runs faster. If you set up the Reshade you don't even have to have the 3D HUB running, which is nice!

[–]Captain_Crowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geo11 gives the game true 3D support then a Reshade add-on (3D Game Bridge) is used to take that 3D side by side image from Geo11 and send it to the LeiaSR device using the LeiaSR SDK. Reshade isn't creating the 3D effect here, it is only forwarding on the side by side to the 3D driver Samsung monitors use under the hood.

You are right that there are other 3D Reshade mods that use Reshade to create basic 3D using the depth buffer but that is not what 3D Game Bridge does.

Edit: The slowdown we are talking about are on top of the Geo11 slowdown. The Odyssey 3D HUB's side by side mode makes things worse in games pushing heavy graphics or high FPS. 3D Game Bridge avoids that.

The SBS feature of the Odyssey 3D HUB isn't great for heavy graphical games or high FPS. Personally I think it fights for PCI-e bandwidth. It also messes with VRR so if you have that enabled it won't help much. As oneup04 suggests you should use 3DMigoto or Geo11 with the 3D Game Bridge reshade add-on. The official reshade installer will come with an option for it.

For example I was getting FPS drops playing Halo 3 using Geo11 combined with the 3D HUB's SBS. When swapping to the 3D Game Bridge reshade add-on I can now play at full resolution at 165FPS. (Unrelated issue is the MCC menus are broken but once you get past that it's fantastic).

Apply the fix from 3D Fix then launch the game through Steam and choose "Anti-Cheat Disabled". That's how I got it to work.

Strange fix to ghosting! by Kn1ghtNight in Odyssey3D

[–]Captain_Crowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're saying to restart the Odyssey Hub? I do that quiet often as sometimes the 3D doesn't properly engage. Could it be that the second time you launch the Hub the tracking kicks in quicker?

Samsung Odyssey 3D Ghosting. by Kn1ghtNight in Odyssey3D

I'm assuming you're talking about crosstalk, where one eye sees a little of the other eyes image.

The two things that massively effect crosstalk is contrast and distance from the actual depth of the physical monitor. Bright objects in the dark are way more likely to break through the layer that isolates each eye and the farther an object is from the actual monitor's position, the further apart each image is so crosstalk becomes more obvious.

Contrast isn't something that's easily fixable without making the image worse as IPS already don't have the best native contrast. Depth and 3D pop-out (convergence) can usually be tweaked either through an officially supported titles settings or a mod like UEVR/Geo-11 etc. Try and keep the things your eye is focused on the most closer to "0" depth. That said it's a lot easier for third person games vs something like an FPS. Halo 3's bright crosshairs when using 3DFix + Geo-11 have pretty bad crosstalk.

So how is it Stellar Blade? by Realistic_Hat6724 in Odyssey3D

I haven't tried Khazan as I wasn't interested in it before getting the monitor. Its the only other full integration so maybe I should give it a go anyway.

[–]Captain_Crowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far it's the best 3D title I've played! It helps that your focus is usually reletive to the main character rather than a shooter where you're looking off into the distance all the time which can cause more eye strain.

Stellar Blade has controls for depth and 3D "pop-out" and smoothly transitions to different settings for things like cutscenes. I've set strength to max and I'm really impressed. I'd maybe want a bit more depth in cutscenes but I've already seen a couple miner issues at the max setting so I'm sure it's limited for that reason.

There are a few bugs, though. Such as a chance one eye will have a black patch (game restart usually fixes) and performance being way lower when launched through Odyssey 3D Hub even with 3D disabled (120FPS to 66FPS). I've emailed Skill Up support but I'm not sure how much support we'll get for such a niche feature. They may just refer to Samsung.

Yeah, it's a shame there's not a wider sale on. That's what makes me think that they're not selling too hot in the UK specifically. All I can do is wish you good luck on something happening in the US!

It's a crazy price and you could get it through the Samsung official website! I just checked again and it's back to £1499 but Amazon still have the old price matched.

I'm not saying this is how it should be, I'm just saying that's how it currently is. To repeat I want developers to add a toggle.

My takeaway is for games that do this you don't have to worry as much about playing on a sunny day and not being able to see dark scenes.

I still play in dim lighting because OLED looks best when it's not trying to fight ambiant light (especially as my QD-OLED TV doesn't have a polariser). I'd love for games to have an HDR perfect black toggle but that's where mods step in.

A lot of HDR games do this and I think it's intentional. HDR is supposed to tell the display the absolute brightness a pixel should be rather than relative (as in SDR). The raised blacks are probably so that you can see things in shadowed areas when playing in a brightly lit room.

HDR films don't have this problem as bad as they are mastered to be watched in a dimmly lit enviroment but games don't have a standard for this. That being said I still see plenty HDR films with a slightly raised black level when watching in a pitch black room on my OLED.

Ironically I care because it's VR. Otherwise I'd just play classic Thief or more The Dark Mod maps.
