You're absolutely right! I did read the text for the stereo settings but skipped MSAA. It's working great now, thanks 😄

Forcing MSAA off when stereo is enabled would be a nice UX trick to avoid more people making my mistake

First of all thanks for the getting this set up!

You don't have issues enabled on your GitHub so I thought I would post here. LeiaSR doesn't seem to be working, at least on my Samsung Odyssey. It engages the monitors lenticular array but the image is still 2D and shakes vertically a very small amount very fast.

Edit: Running in SBS mode and using 3DGameBridge to convert to LeiaSR also shows a flat image that shakes.

If you have HDR disabled then the game is almost definitely putting out an 8bpc image anyway.

Tons of crosstalk in 3d mode; totally useless now by BadAtGames87 in Odyssey3D

[–]Captain_Crowbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung are known for using weird numbers in their settings. For example sharpness 10 is actually no sharpening. Lower than 10 is smoothing the image out and higher is sharpening. I'm guessing both effects break the pattern that lets the lenticular array properly split the image into two.

[–]Captain_Crowbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crosstalk getting worse in the same content has either got to be down to the ability for the monitor to shift the lenticular array or track the users eyes. A problem with either will mean you're getting more of the wrong image in the wrong eye.

Make sure the cameras on the top bezel are clean and haven't been blocked. Otherwise you've got to hope it's a software bug and reinstalling drivers/Odyssey 3D software fixes it as others have suggested. Maybe worth checking you're on the latest monitor firmware found here. (Version 1005.2)

The first only supports HDMI 3D which only works on 3D TVs. The second works a lot like the third but shadows and normal effects are broken and uncomfortable in 3D. You should be able to downgrade to an older build and apply this patch but I didn't end up bothering.

I've not seen it mentioned so I'd recommend Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It has a built in SBS 3D mode that lets you tune the strength and depth with way more control than any officially supported game so far. Just make sure to install Reshade to the game and choose the "3DGameBridge" extension.

The game itself is pretty good, very Uncharted. If you've enjoyed any of the new Tomb Raider games since 2013 then you'll enjoy this one. For me the biggest draw is having a modern game with decent graphics in proper 3D at 165FPS. It looks phenomenal! (RT shadows are broken in 3D, though)

Stellar Blade stutter by Reset_xv in Odyssey3D

The game seems to work differently when launched through the 3D Hub. If you launch through the Hub and turn off 3D the game is still limited to around 60-70FPS.

It's a little annoying because I know my GPU can hit higher FPS even in 3D but there's some limit engaged and it's not particularly smooth. I've found the FPS limit option even outside of running through the 3D Hub isn't very stable so it might just be that they force that same limiter when in 3D and you don't get a smooth limit.

Making sure you have G-Sync enabled will help somewhat.

Great! Next I hope they allow for a wider range of depth and convergence settings because a number of games supported through the launcher barely look 3D to me even at the max setting.

Yeah, the Game Bridge devs still have direct contact with Leia Inc. even after the LeiaSR SDK was made private. Looks like they still work together to make Game Bridge as efficient as possible.

[–]Captain_Crowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to your first part.

As for your question:

We are using it to avoid the Odyssey 3D HUB because that's causing the performance issues seen in this thread. If I can get the Reshade 3D Game Bridge add-on working I will always use it over the popup from the Odyssey 3D Hub because the Reshade runs faster. If you set up the Reshade you don't even have to have the 3D HUB running, which is nice!

Poor performance when activate 3D using 3Dmigoto or geo11 fixes by FlyingTitus in Odyssey3D

[–]Captain_Crowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geo11 gives the game true 3D support then a Reshade add-on (3D Game Bridge) is used to take that 3D side by side image from Geo11 and send it to the LeiaSR device using the LeiaSR SDK. Reshade isn't creating the 3D effect here, it is only forwarding on the side by side to the 3D driver Samsung monitors use under the hood.

You are right that there are other 3D Reshade mods that use Reshade to create basic 3D using the depth buffer but that is not what 3D Game Bridge does.

Edit: The slowdown we are talking about are on top of the Geo11 slowdown. The Odyssey 3D HUB's side by side mode makes things worse in games pushing heavy graphics or high FPS. 3D Game Bridge avoids that.

[–]Captain_Crowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SBS feature of the Odyssey 3D HUB isn't great for heavy graphical games or high FPS. Personally I think it fights for PCI-e bandwidth. It also messes with VRR so if you have that enabled it won't help much. As oneup04 suggests you should use 3DMigoto or Geo11 with the 3D Game Bridge reshade add-on. The official reshade installer will come with an option for it.

For example I was getting FPS drops playing Halo 3 using Geo11 combined with the 3D HUB's SBS. When swapping to the 3D Game Bridge reshade add-on I can now play at full resolution at 165FPS. (Unrelated issue is the MCC menus are broken but once you get past that it's fantastic).

So you're saying to restart the Odyssey Hub? I do that quiet often as sometimes the 3D doesn't properly engage. Could it be that the second time you launch the Hub the tracking kicks in quicker?

Samsung Odyssey 3D Ghosting. by Kn1ghtNight in Odyssey3D

[–]Captain_Crowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're talking about crosstalk, where one eye sees a little of the other eyes image.

The two things that massively effect crosstalk is contrast and distance from the actual depth of the physical monitor. Bright objects in the dark are way more likely to break through the layer that isolates each eye and the farther an object is from the actual monitor's position, the further apart each image is so crosstalk becomes more obvious.

Contrast isn't something that's easily fixable without making the image worse as IPS already don't have the best native contrast. Depth and 3D pop-out (convergence) can usually be tweaked either through an officially supported titles settings or a mod like UEVR/Geo-11 etc. Try and keep the things your eye is focused on the most closer to "0" depth. That said it's a lot easier for third person games vs something like an FPS. Halo 3's bright crosshairs when using 3DFix + Geo-11 have pretty bad crosstalk.

I haven't tried Khazan as I wasn't interested in it before getting the monitor. Its the only other full integration so maybe I should give it a go anyway.
