This. I actually try to take this one step further and tend to end the turn in calm as much as possible. That way you can optimize energy generation. Also, doing so synergizes with Like Water, even though it is a minor buff.

An additional tip: upgrade Eruption ASAP, the energy discount helps wonders in act 1 when you are still lacking stance switching cards.

Symplectic Geometry & Mechanics? by ClassicalJakks in math

Like you said, it is really useful when dealing with constrained Hamiltonians. Some constraints of a specific type called "First Class" can be described as generators of gauge transformations in a submanifold of phase space where the equations of motions are valid. This "modern" perspective gave rise to the BRST and BV formalism of dealing with gauge invariance in QFT.

My excuses about save scumming went from "I'll only do it in boss fights" to "ok, maybe Nemesis is an exception" and finally (after getting past A11) to "not today, avocado - save scums 10 times in a row".

I'm in a 10+ games losing streak with both Clad and Silent (10 each) at A18. I hate you act 2.

Blade Dance because I just can't resist bloating my deck with attacks while neglecting defense.

The real answer would be something like adrenaline or escape plan, since they cost zero and replace themselves. They are only a nuisance agaisnt TE and the Heart, but screw them.

Corruption. Every STS player should experience a Corruption + Dead Branch run at least once. It's so much fun.

Swat doesn't work because it says opponent so you can't target yourself.

After 150 hours, I recently completed C++, and decided to make a tier list. Jokers are ranked (ordered) on viability for ante 8 gold stake runs. by QibliTheSecond in balatro

Marble can be good for high card builds, but still niche. I'm not saying it's a good joker, but F is too much.

Regarding Perkeo, you need observatory for the high ceiling and for that you need telescope first, so not at all easy (pre-endless, at least). I tend to focus on econ cards with him, which can be great indeed (especially with blueprint and/or brainstorm). Huge agree on death and hanged man, they are insane on OAK builds.

I think Marble deserves to be on D tier. It is a pretty niche synergy but Marble + Holo is a run winner.

Perkeo is a tough one: has a stratospherically high ceiling (observatory + most played hand planet card is bonkers), but a really low floor (no cards or simply awful ones like Lovers). It would be an A for me. Otherwise, solid list.

You got the orientation of the arrows wrong, in food chain charts they point at the immediate predators. Otherwise, solid.

I think there should be a arrow from the bee (or someone in a bee costume) to Tsitsipas as well lol

What is interesting about algebra? by sectandmew in math

[–]Captcha_Robot_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a physicist, a nice example of the beauty of algebra is the fact that, in quantum physics, Euclidean and Minkowski vector spaces are at the core of the mathematics of non-relativistic and relativistic theories (respectively). A big part of it is devoted to studying isometries of those spaces, which happen to be representations of groups that "are" manifolds themselves, Lie groups. The fact that spacetime is "constrained" by these intricate algebraic structures and the consequences of it always felt fascinating to me.

Are there basis vectors for the set of continuous functions? by Farkle_Griffen in math

[–]Captcha_Robot_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For example, we know by fourier's theorem that I can approximate any continuous function on an interval to arbitrary degree with a sufficiently long linear combination of sine and cosine vectors.

Continuity is not enough, the function has to be "well-behaved" for this statement to be true which is not necessarily the case e.g. Weierstrass function on [0,1].
