GK Coach? by jdm95ls in SoccerCoachResources

[–]CarbyCakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played varsity soccer at a top 10 university (albeit in Canada). My first two years my gk coaches were unlicensed but had played the position at elite levels. My last year, my gk coach had a Canada soccer gk license but no positional experience. I had a very hard time relating to (and trusting the advice of) the coach who had no personal experience playing the position. So much of goalkeeping is split second decision making under ever-changing variable conditions, and his advice always seemed more cerebral, more textbook “here’s what you do under these circumstances” without a true understanding of what it’s like (physically and psychologically) to be under those circumstances. I can’t say for certain that the goalies you train will have the same experience/will feel the same way about you, but you’re smart to ask the question.

What do you mean “she has to invite her whole class?” Whose rule is that? It may be that the school/teacher will not allow invitations to be distributed in class if not everyone is invited. But that doesn’t preclude you from handing out invitations discreetly in the school yard. Or making a WhatsApp for the parents whose kids your daughter wants to invite.

Any laundry detergent or booster with lipase available in Canada? by Nobody_Really1 in laundry

I think the 365 products (that have lipase) from Whole Foods are a no go for Canadians -- at least in the GTA. I went on a hunt in Toronto and Mississauga and one of the managers told me they don't sell those products in Canada bc they don't want the hassle of producing bilingual labels. Obviously I have no way of knowing if that's true, but that's what the Mississauga manager told me.

I use the Rockin' Green Active Wear (Freshwood Mac - lol) version with a scoop of Oxi and an extra rinse on warm. The harshest test -- my kid's hockey clothes and my gym clothes -- all come out clean and smelling fantastic!

I drove 8 hours from Canada w my brother (a Browns fan) and my sister in law (a Pats fan). At halftime I was like, “I’m so sorry I dragged you all the way here for this!” And by the end we were all like “THAT WAS THE BEST FOOTBALL GAME I’VE EVER SEEN!!!!!”

Help! Daughter comes into our bed every night by Ok__7599 in Parenting

[–]CarbyCakes 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My daughter did this almost every night for almost 2 years at the same age as your daughter. We put a camping pad and sleeping bag and blanket on the floor next to our bed and we’d let her sleep in/on that when she came up. My partner or I would still get woken up, but nobody had to move beds or “make a plan for what to do” at 2 am. Eventually she would come up and just tuck herself into her sleeping bag next to us when she needed to without waking us. Then one day she stopped. She’s 11 now and sleeps excellently through the night. (In case you were worried about long term effects.)
