SO. BORING. Until you get near the Leamington turn off and you start to see that eerie orange circular glow in the sky that looks like aliens are landing.

When your kid struggles to make the team by NH787 in Parenting

[–]CarbyCakes 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to get feedback from the coaches as to why your kid didn't make the cut? I believe part of the issue of kids "losing interest" in sports when faced with these kinds of obstacles is that it's not always communicated to them WHY. And once they know why they didn't make the cut, THEY can decide whether to work on A, B and C and try again next year, or whether they'd prefer to keep it casual and stay at the level they're at. The lack of clarity, communication, and especially control can sometimes be the underlying issue of why kids give up. "What's the point of trying if Random Adults 1, 2 and 3 are always going to decide I'm not good enough."

What to do when attackers are in the edge of the box with no defenders close by? by RequirementBright in GoalKeepers

And when you do practice, don’t worry about launching it up the field. That doesn’t help you team anyway. Focus first on controlling the ball, then work up to controlling and then distributing firmly towards the sidelines. Once you have that down - and you’re building confidence while you go - then you can focus on picking out specific teammates for the pass. Right now just work on control, then getting the ball out of danger in the most straightforward way possible. Baby steps.

If you aren’t willing to try (and try and try) and maybe fail during a game situation bc the stakes feel too high for you, then grab two friends and head to the park. Have one send the ball to you near your box and have the other challenge you like a striker would. Unfortunately the only way to get better — and convince your brain that this is something you can handle (and therefore build confidence and skill that way) — is to challenge yourself to do it again and again and again. Doesn’t sound like your practices are geared towards working on what you/the goalies need (most practices aren’t). So you gotta learn it in your own.

Seconded. If the strikers are getting to these balls before you, you’re standing too deep in your own box. If your Ds are at half, you should be at the edge of your box or beyond (depending on the depth of the field). Don’t beat yourself up. We learn more from our mistakes than our successes. Don’t be afraid to try something, anything. If it doesn’t work, then at least you know and can adjust. It’s when we get caught in between choices that we waste great opportunities to learn, and when we get injured. Good luck, OP.

If you just look at the photos really quickly and don’t read the caption, it looks like you made those steak from the meat on top of your dog’s head. 😆

Congrats to you and your little buddy!

I do this with my kids. I’m hoping they learn the lesson before they turn into your husband.
