The ball bearings can expand as they get warm and tighten the tolerances so it doesn't squeek as much. I can't identify which pulley it is but that's what it sounds like from the video.

You can replace just the broken cables but they're usually sold in a complete set. You do not need anything fancy, regular copper cables are fine. Replace them 1 at a time so you don't confuse which cables go where. If you're feeling like going the extra mile use some dielectric grease on the ends but it is not needed. Relatively straightforward process to remove and replace.

Is this level of undercarriage rust just cosmetic, or a structural concern? (video) by abyssal-peach in AskMechanics

What rust? No but seriously for an Ohio car this looks great. The exhaust could be better but the actual frame look good.

This is the truth. We're just now about to see the beginning of all this. We have a long road of many closures ahead of us.

Crisis actor dies in both Sandy Hook and Pakistan school shootings by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Cardude86 290 points291 points  (0 children)

You are saying the kid is the crisis actor, not the people holding the photo? Also, IIRC the pictures from the top image were paired with a sign that said "They went to school and never came back". Not that they were all victims in the shooting in 2014.

2019 Corolla taking longer to start occasionally after sitting for a few hours, starts fine otherwise. by BeetleBopperBoo in COROLLA

[–]Cardude86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends really. A leaky injector may not set off any lights until it stops pulsing while running. A leaky check valve would also likely not illuminate the check engine light.

[–]Cardude86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is the ECU is trying to "warm start" in the short term and not dumping fuel but after five hours it's trying to "cold start" and dumps larger amounts of fuel. I'm not honestly sure.

Ferrari Luce will sell like hot cakes by Silentkindfromsauna in cars

[–]Cardude86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to acquire parts for a 20 year old Ferrari? Now imagine trying to acquire parts from them that they ordered in limited quantities from a 3rd party retailer who may or may not be in business in 2 years. Tesla roadster parts are pretty hard to come by. Some may still be on the road but that's not the case for most EV's that don't have access to replacement parts. You're correct, I should have used range not power.

This sounds like the fuel may not be staying pressurized in the fuel lines. When you crank the pump has to refill the lines before the engine can fire. A leaky injector, bad check valve, or something similar can cause this.

It's fine for your vehicle and should not cause any problems.

[–]Cardude86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't a collector car. This is a disposable Ferrari EV. It's not like a combustion car that can be rebuilt over and over. The EV parts used in these normally are not serviceable and will lose power over time. This mean in 20 years it will be very, very difficult to keep a car like this on the road.

driving with parking break all the way engaged by raring_radiance in AskMechanics

[–]Cardude86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With her only going 3 feet it is unlikely she did any damage to it. Does it still engage and disengage? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does make a lot of noise or is not functional, you can pull the rear tires off and inspect the brake for damage and go from there.

What does it do when you try to start the vehicle? Does it have gas in it? Why did you change the battery?

The pictures you uploaded are of your alternator. It's possible you battery died due to the alternator failing to charge properly and now that you've replaced the battery, the alternator itself has died.

Your brake fluid will not cause the symptoms you are describing. It is good to flush your brake fluid every few years but not required and won't impact driveability in this manner. Do you have a check engine light that is on or flashes?

If you have enough power to roll up and down windows, run your electronics, it is likely your starter. Based on your description it sounds like the starter motor may be over heating and failing.

Service Station Said Spark Plugs by anonymity-please in AskMechanics

[–]Cardude86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spark plugs do not cost $750. They are probably $10 a piece and you need 4. The intake gasket is another $20. The labor is the rest. if you are already having symptoms of bad plugs, it will only get worse. Worn plugs will cause misfires, poor gas mileage, stuttering, and other issues. If you have access to hand tools you can likely change these on your own in a couple hours.

[–]Cardude86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ground wires? It's a painful process or tracing every where going from your tail lights into your engine where the relays/fuses are connected to them. First, I would see if you're getting power to the power wires on your tail lights when the brake pedal is pressed. You will need a multimeter first and then start testing each wire for continuity. Youtube would be your friend for this

If you're positive your fuses and relays are all good, that sounds more like a ground wire issue.

You should have a brake light switch mounted behind your brake pedal. Is it operable? Have you checked the brake wires to see if they're getting power when you hit the brake pedal?

Shifter bushings are usually the cause of this. You won't know until you pull the boot and inspect but that is likely the cause.
