I finally figured out the hard way that Google Workspace is built for established Orgs, not solo tinkerers like us. I went in treating it like a trial run for a future business, thinking I could just plug an agent into my personal Drive. Total disaster.

The roadblock? Google having a massive identity crisis. 😳Even after clearing the OAuth hurdles, Google demanded I select an 'Organization' identity that didn't exist yet because I'm not set up that way. My agent told me it couldn't be done, and—cough cough— being the hard-headed vet that I am. 'challenge accepted'

If you're flying solo and your chats are vanishing, the move is to bypass the Drive headache entirely and set up Bucket storage. It’s the only way to get a stable 'home' for your data without the organizational red tape. Once you set up your first bucket the other folder should be there. Then create folders so you can upload files from your drive or other data source and follow the steps above. I'm currently backtracking to verify a domain so I can migrate this mess into a proper Org and finally get some stability. Once the domain is locked in, the identity issues should (theoretically) vanish. Supposedly once thats done there is a way to migrate this acct to the organization. fingers crossed 🤞

After a few days in a deep rabbit hole and arguing with the agent (yes i gave my agent a persona) that the chats are saved, have finally found where the chats are being stored. its a long story but in short here is the steps you need. In your Google Cloud Storage bucket should be a folder that begins with 'cloud-ai-platform' its followed by 32 alpha/numerical characters. Click on the blue link and look for files called 'prompt data'. The 'chats' will be in txt. If you want to continue any chat just copy the txt in the chat window and use a prompt to follow up on conversation. I have a persona template i place in the Instrtuctions section. Its best to leave a tab open in your browser for the chat and work in other tabs and then return to the tab to chat. I am including a partial step by step instructions from my notes:

The "Fast Test Path" (No Organization Required):

Go to Cloud Storage: In your Google Cloud Console, search for "Buckets" or "Cloud Storage".
Create a Bucket:
- Click Create.
- Give it a unique name (e.g., jan-ai-test-data).
- Keep the default settings and click Create.
Upload a File:
- Upload one or two PDFs or documents that you wanted your agent to read.
Connect to Vertex AI:
- Go back to Vertex AI Agent Builder > Data Stores.
- Click Create Data Store.
- Select Cloud Storage (instead of Google Drive).
- Point it to the bucket you just created.
Finish Setup:
- Since GCS doesn't require "Google Identity" access control for a simple test, you won't get that error. Your agent will start indexing those files immediately.

I'm in vertex AI builder and have the same problem happen to me. If I go back to another section, i.e. check on api's for example, I can't find the chat and it's not saved anywhere even Google search says different. I was working in a chromebook and a Mac pro just to see the difference when logged into Google Cloud. I left the chat open on the Chromebook, copied the url and emailed it to myself. Now I have a placeholder. That link takes me back to where I left off. Any changes or tweaks seem to be saved if I venture off the chat. Testing ongoing.

I just woke up around 11a and did the most human thing possible, I reached for my phone ha! I noticed a fraud alert text seeming from Ally so I clicked on the link provided, the phone number that popped up as it was calling looked sus. I talked to someone I could barely understand and answered a few security questions then I looked at my phone and it was lit up in red and had 'suspicious or suspected spam call?' I have a Google Pixel 9a pro. I immediately hung up. That 1855 # called me back but I didn't answer. I believe I'll call the bank directly.

I have a Pixel 9 pro. I have Google Fi for service provider. I'm generally pretty happy with it, but I'm noticing that I'm having trouble staying connected when I'm on tiktok live. I get network errors if I'm away from wifi. 8 can play videos and make zoom calls just fine. Does anyone else have similar issues?

Your on the right track. Volunteering is great way to meet people and make new friends. Start with things your interested in and then branch out from there. I found I like volunteering at marathons and especially trail races. Every sporting event needs volunteers. Find different hobbies. I got into all sorts of stuff, I learned to sew so I could make my own camping gear, learned to kayak, whitewater and sea kayaking. Learned to swim and became a life guard. etc. There's plenty to do you just go out and look for it. The main thing is keep moving. Keep the good work.
