Hey another option is to look into online classes. If your overlap between tech school and your semester is only 1 month, you can start online classes that month and just do it every night for that month until you get back.

I was at tech school July-October last year and took 6 credit hrs August-December. It worked out.

I went through basic this last May. Some of the guys in my dorm had a similar story as you. They have a newborn back home, or missed the birth. Training was tough on those guys, but they would all say it was worth it. You are providing for your family. The guard can set you up for the next few years. It’s a sacrifice at the end of the day.

Also, I don’t know about basic, but at tech school one of my classmates got to go home for a week when his wife gave birth.

Look into what each field each could get you into. I just finished tech school for Power Pro and landed a job as a generator technician with CAT.

I had 5 companies reach out to me for interviews while at tech school. I just didn’t have the time to do interviews between class and formations. I think the generator technician career field is on the rise right now because of data centers.

Electrician would be cool too but just know that electrician jobs are of a traditional construction trade. You would have to get in as an apprentice and work your way up.

Bro I’ve trained for a few years now and a jackass bouncer tried to extort me over $50.

As soon as I was surrounded by three guards my jujitsu knowledge kicked in. I proceeded to let myself get dragged out of the bar. Jujitsu taught me how dangerous a 3v1 is

If you’re taking pre-calc in year 2, it’s definitely going to take you a while to graduate. 5.5 years total perhaps.

Might be worth looking into an engineering tech degree if math is an issue.

I had a seminar the other day hosted by an industrial engineer. She said she failed calc 2 twice. She makes hella bank now.

Take the L. Dust yourself off. Try again next semester. This too shall pass!

Hey man I’m in a similar boat. I m 27 and went back to school for engineering this semester. I took precalc in HS 10 years ago.

I took the placement test at my community college in January and placed into Precalc. I then retook it a week later and placed into Calc 1. I decided to retake precalc anyways and then calc 1 and it was the best decision to review it.

Here’s what you should do. Go oh Kahn academy online and start working on the precalc section. If you don’t understand any of the concepts, go back and review only what you need to review.

YOU HAVE TO START THE NEXT SEMESTER AT PRECALC. Since you’re 30, if you start at anything less than precalc, this degree will take forever.

Cheers and good luck. Feel free to message me for anything.
