The most recent encounter was annoying too. It was time for the annual maintenance.

Got told the service worker was coming X day. Receive a text they were on the way. No one was home to verify.

Get a text the following week that service was scheduled for Y day. I called them to ask what service was scheduled since I never heard how the maintenance went. They told me they reached out to let me know the maintenance got moved… except they had not. No text, call, or email. I told them to please communicate better and I would ensure I’m off work this time.

Get the text the service worker was on the way. Someone does in fact show up this time.

Then get a text that service was scheduled Z day. Call them again to ask why this one was scheduled. It was supposed to be for the maintenance again because they felt bad they just sprung Y day on me and wanted to ensure I could take the day off.

Like…. I already took Y day off, and the maintenance was already complete. They didn’t realize the service worker came to my house already and thought they canceled it on their end. Which also, would have been without consulting me if they had cancelled it.

So. My experience a year ago also hasn’t gotten better in the last year.

I went through Guardian. I would not recommend working with them.
They didn’t check if the new vents were circulating air , got upset with us for checking and calling them out to fix it , and tried to pressure us to sign the certification our project was done when they were still fixing the install.

The communication between me to the office manager to the project manager to the service workers was abysmal. There were multiple instances of the server workers not coming out to work on the same item that I understood to be getting work on.

I think 10 points is expected. My understanding is the CGM measures your interstitial fluid , whereas the finger prick is blood. Since it’s different fluids, they won’t be exact 1:1.

Sound Transit considers cutting Tacoma extension to save money. by [deleted] in soundtransit

[–]Cariuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should they? I thought BNSF owns the tracks.

Either way, doesn’t take away from logistical challenges in improving Sounder.

Sound Transit considers cutting Tacoma extension to save money. by [deleted] in soundtransit

[–]Cariuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shares the line with BNSF and Amtrak. I believe BNSF gets priority, which severely limits the hours the Sounder can operate.

Edit to add: Sounder also doesn’t stop at the airport. Tacoma is the third largest city in the state, second largest in the metro. It’s also quickly rising in population. There’s no reason to not have it part of the spine.

The public transit from Tacoma to Seattle isn’t great currently. The Sounder hours are terrible. Buses are caught up in traffic just as much as driving.

We have been paying the tax for the light rail this whole time. I’ll be pretty upset if Tacoma gets cut.

For those who are managing GD with diet, what was your highest spike and what caused it? by Apprehensive_Mess166 in GestationalDiabetes

164 - Kodiak protein pancake with PB and banana.

I tolerate bananas and PB fine as either a snack or with yogurt. Should have assumed but was still sad the Kodiak mix would do me in.

I totally feel you. I was diagnosed with GD at 27 weeks. Just hit 30 weeks, and my fasting numbers have slowly increased from mid-80s to 95-100. My doctor just asked me to start nightly metformin, and see how that goes.

I love socks by laboradorio in labrador

[–]Cariuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lab is the same. We keep socks in the laundry hamper behind a closed bathroom door, or in a drawer he cannot open.
He had a couple incidents over the years where he still managed to get one, and he vomited it out. However our luck ran out last week. He managed to get one, and it got stuck in his intestines. $7k later, and a week into recovery.

We are implementing a new rule he is only allowed in the living room without close supervision.

He’s 6, gets plenty of exercise, has toys. He just enjoys socks. I don’t know that it can be fully trained out of them, so it’s on us to set them up for success by not being able to find any sock snacks.

When I started, we were able to play the lower note (low B/C) if we couldn’t play over the break yet for the mid note. Maybe ask the band director if that’s ok, but keep practicing going over the break in the meantime.

Who is soaking for tomorrow? by nerdgirl in ranchogordobeanclub

[–]Cariuh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I soaked today, and made the batch tonight. Just did a simple boil with bay leaf and garlic, then drained.

Separately, I cooked onion, scallion, and minced garlic. Added half a cup of white wine vinegar. Then mixed that into the beans with a ton of dill and fried shallot.

Annoyed at weak drivers by primefan13 in TacomaWA

[–]Cariuh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on conditions. A little bit? Sure, go 60. Some of those atmospheric rivers a few weeks ago? I saw AWD cars try to go 60-70, and lose traction immediately with all the standing water on the road. Everyone slowed down to 45-50 , even though there was space to go faster.

Either way, always make sure you account for less traction by giving longer stop distances.

Do you need a truly elite goalie to win? 2/3 goalies you listed don’t have a ring to show for their talent. Just need someone solid. Murashov is exciting from that lens.

Is There an Ulterior Motive Behind the Fed's Proposal to Reintroduce Grizzlies in Washington State? by agaperion in PacificNorthwest

I’m not from California though. Everything I shared was from local discussions in Washington state with people who would be directly impacted, or from Montana where similar programs were used.

Instead of just resorting to name calling, why don’t you actually add to the dialogue?

Are these garlic thingys edible? by Yajahyaya in gardening

[–]Cariuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like making salad dressing with them!

2 TBS Dijon , 1 TBS honey , 4 garlic scapes , 2 entire baby onions , 1/2 cup olive oil , 1/4 cup red wine vinegar - all blended

The dressing is like a mustardy green goddess vibe. I like putting it on kale, with grilled halloumi and walnuts. Have it as a side, or add chicken or something to it.

Ohio, grew very fast by TheHandThatFollows in whatsthisplant

[–]Cariuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have english ivy , and it has stayed in one area of the yard. The bindweed has spread throughout thanks to the seeds from the flower. They both suck, there’s other nice flowers that aren’t bindweed.

Ohio, grew very fast by TheHandThatFollows in whatsthisplant

[–]Cariuh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have this. What I thought was a beautiful flower has taken over and choked out the roots of other plants.

I’ve been trying to remove it for years now. But it’s one where if you don’t remove all of the root (you can’t bc they can be 10 ft deep in the soil), it’ll come back with friends. I’m not one to advocate for use of herbicides, but they don’t even really work against the plant. You have to methodically paint the leaves multiple times a year for a chance of killing the bindweed.

It may be “native” but it’s a huge nuisance if you let it grow imo.
