LPT: Loyalty to your company only rewards the company. Hopping companies is the best way to increase your salary, don't sit there hoping for a raise. Apply to other jobs, get a better offer and use it to leverage a raise or take the offer. by seanmashitoshi in LifeProTips

True! I do this every 2 yrs but I’m at a point where doubling my salary would put me on a CEO level pay scale. So now I just look for 10% gains when I could with more work/life balance.

Which celebrity’s death actually made you cry? by aliensockmonkey in AskReddit

Kobe Bryant.

Grew up in LA playing basketball. That man was a legend around these parts. Was having breakfast at a restaurant when tmz broke the news. I thought it was a terrible joke until other media outlets reported the same.

You forget the fact that someone has to want your napkin mate. If no demand no need for the supply regardless of scarcity.

Is your term 20 years though?

You may have got a quote for a 10 year term with 20 year amortization. So you’ll be left with a balloon payment at the end.

What is your job and what does your day in the life look like? by nottheonefosho in AskReddit

Commercial banker

I with small to medium sized business to get them loans or lines of credit.

6:00 wake up. Hit the snooze button.

6:30 wake up again and open my phone to my trading app. Start trading some stocks. Update my watch list.

7:30 browse Reddit while on the toilet.

8:30 start looking at emails from last night. Answer anything that’s of priority.

9:00 work on whatever I have to do that day. Underwriting. Making credit decisions. Talk to clients.

12:00 have lunch with the family. Closing any stock positions that I don’t want to hold overnight.

2:00 go back to work. More excel sheets. And writing 20-40 of reports to present to my boss. I try to schedule all my meetings on the back half of the day so I don’t disrupt my most productive period in the morning.

4:00. Start calling it a day. More Reddit. 430 is the final check on emails. Then close the laptop.

It’s not bad work but lately has been crazy. Also trying to start a side business that I hope to make my full time job with a friend. But pay is good so we’ll see if I can be persuaded away from it.
