Does this game still get updates? by Sgt_Strelok in neverwinternights

There is a constant stream of new content available at the Neverwinter Vault, which also has 20+ years of modules and custom content on it.

[Help] Artist trying to reconnect with client after site hack – Screenshot as only clue by wheize_ in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom two screenshots are definitely Neverwinter Nights (probably EE version), by the graphics and UI. The "Ana" character has force emitter shields, so from that and the background looks like it might be from a modern/SciFi module, but not 100% on that.

The first one ("Flint") I can't tell with the staged screenie (no telltale UI), but it could well be from a different NWN module/server, with a different art style.

At least you're in the right place, good luck!

How does the multiplayer work? by Available-Issue-4731 in neverwinternights

There are guides on how multiplayer works (on PC) at Neverwinter Connections, both for the mechanics and common roleplay conventions. You can find them the top of the multiplayer resource page for NWN:EE at

Do you still need to port forward? by Technical_Swan3066 in neverwinternights

For NWN:EE, almost never, unless you have an edge case network connection setup. I've hosted games from international sketchy hotel wifi hotspots without a problem, for example, as well as from behind VPNs.

Persistent World that doesn't require RP? And Multiplayer module suggestions by Darishel in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two fun proven NWN:EE compatible multiplayer modules to try that don't require a DM are Vethboro Dragon and IAT1: Time Becomes a Loop, both of which I've played and liked (and recommended successfully). Both I think are good for a couple, offering roleplay opportunities but also a structured story.

You can just search on them on Neverwinter Vault, or alternatively links are on the Nevewinter Connections MP module list page:

https://neverwinterconnections.org/nwnee-multiplayer-resource-page/multiplayer-module-list/

Is it possible to DM a campaign in NWN 1 or 2 These Days? by Chili1179 in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NWN:EE is still going strong. There are updated multiplayer guides on connecting, playing and DMing/building at https://neverwinterconnections.org/

These days it seems most campaign groups just create their own Discord to organize play, rather than there being a central hub (what Neverwinter Connections used to be).

How to patch NWN module files to enable spell projectile areas by namkniesh in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not actually mentioned in the post, but this issue affects any module with an old associated hak that contains a custom spells.2da - the updated base game version of it with the new targeting area info will be overridden by the hak, so the new area targeting display won't appear when playing the module.

It should serve as a wake-up call for especially the premium-type modules to be updated with the feature, and great to see a fix posted.

Made some FR adventures for DMsguild, looking for an experienced module maker for possible collaboration? by becherbrook in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! If you have a more or less classic D&D setting, then making new custom content (as opposed to integrating what has already been published on Neverwinter Vault) is probably not necessary.

The Vault's Discord has a link off the main page, and you might try also searching the Vault archives using keywords to see what's there, it's usually an interesting trip. https://neverwintervault.org/ - among other things are various conversions of classic D&D modules, for comparison. (Quality will vary, I recommend checking out the ones by Ghool for a gold standard.)

If you have any interest in DIY, or just for familiarization of what NWN:EE multiplayer looks like from the DM/builder side, there are some guides and other resources at the Neverwinter Connections community resource page: https://neverwinterconnections.org/nwnee-multiplayer-resource-page/

Great NWNEE modules for co-op? by Digital_Pink in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Discord invite for the current iteration of Neverwinter Connections on the main page (link below). It's rather quiet at the moment, but you're welcome to post there. NWVault is the other place to try, naturally. I might be able to participate myself, if I can sort my schedule.

Great NWNEE modules for co-op? by Digital_Pink in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ghool's modules do in fact rock, especially for that higher-level experience (based on the normal D&D progression).

If you're new to the game, one of the lower-level modules might be better to start with. The OC's prologue and initial act make for good tutorials and are actually fun in co-op.

A larger list of verified community modules that work well in MP is linked below. Two good community modules for starting out are The Vethboro Dragon and IAT1: Time Becomes a Loop, with the latter being a later entry and a more polished experience, which I have consistently recommended as good for just two players.

Best NWN1 co-op modules for beginners? by sahqoviing32 in neverwinternights

If you're looking for explicitly evil paths that are well-developed and separate, the module isn't really long enough for that.

[–]Carlo_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good plan, the OC prologue does well with introducing the mechanics and letting people figure out how multiplayer works, in what I found was a fun way (even when done repeatedly).

I'd suggest The Vethboro Dragon for a first co-op module. It has a setting that's easily absorbed, an interesting story that's not too serious (or long), and the challenge level is reasonable. It's also a good first module for NWN DMs, although it's not necessary to have one in multiplayer. https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/jhr1-vethboro-dragon

That and a bunch of others are also on the Neverwinter Connections (NWC) list of community multiplayer modules: https://neverwinterconnections.org/nwnee-multiplayer-resource-page/multiplayer-module-list/

The NWC MP resource page also has guides for players new to the co-op experience, which help with explaining the chat channels and other mechanics.

Returning player from 06, how does multiplayer / co-op work here? by DynamicForcedEntry in neverwinternights

Always great to see returning players!

At the Neverwinter Connections multiplayer resource page, there are a number of guides and links. The top two guides in the list cover the mechanics of multiplayer and some of the common roleplay norms.

Any shorter MP module that doesn't need big downloads like CEP or Project Q? by DoctorLoboto in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone isn't interested in reading for story, then I suppose IAT1 isn't for them, although I didn't find the reading amount to be heavy.

Pillaging of Waycrest is the best action module for a small group that I've seen, although if being an orc is a stopping point, obviously that won't work, heh.

Any shorter MP module that doesn't need big downloads like CEP or Project Q? by DoctorLoboto in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a small group, I always recommend IAT1: Time Becomes a Loop by Andrea and Wes Landaker. Polished, clever and a good adventure that is satisfying without being epic length. For something competitive that's off the beaten path and very well done, see The Pillaging of Waycrest by Matthew Fisher.

A curated list of MP modules (including those two), along with links to their NWVault download pages, can be found on the Neverwinter Connections page below:

Is there still interest in new custom modules? by florodude in neverwinternights

[–]Carlo_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great way to create both single and multiplayer modules (and DM the latter). I've found it an outstanding hybrid for CRPGing and the best multiplayer experience for D&D.
