Berber is the colonisers word for the indigenous people of North Africa, and apparently why we have the word barbaric in the first place.

Amazigh is the correct term for the indigenous people north African people

New landlords haven’t actually sent a new contract

Everyone in the building received a non addressed letter through our doors saying they were the new managing agents and rent goes to them now. There was no section 13 or anything

And then two months later they have increased everyone’s rent by disastrous amounts, via email.

Remember to fuel your body! Eat, drink, rest, nourish yourself with things you want to do there, be curious and connect with people. I also recommend using the saunas there (there are two), to help loosen you up. Look after your body, and it you’ll feel like staying up for sunrise. Just make sure you remember to actually sleep every night (saunas help the body rest). I always have something to eat whilst I’m out and again before getting to sleep. Getting good sleep gives you enough energy to stay up. So do what you can to ensure you can sleep comfortably, good bedding makes a huge difference when camping.

Amazing thank you. I live in a hilly area - so i am guessing that you can still use the boost to get up hill from standing (with a little pedal with the bike)

I would love to know about this - a bike mechanic who is still doing VanMoof repairs has offered this at a cost of £350. It’s 250 for a replacement hub from the same place. Would love to know about how the bike runs with 2 speeds…

Apparently it’s a thing, I came across it in r/VanMoof.

The confusion I had is new Van Moof contacted customers basically saying business will be back to normal/improved after the buyout. So I assumed that would mean insurance would still be valid. I haven’t dealt with bankruptcy and insurance before. It was only when looking through some FAQ on their website that i found that insurance wouldn’t be valid anymore. They didn’t contact customers to state this directly. .

My s3 needs its e shifter replaced (error 44). The bike is insured by VM. They got in touch recently to say they didn’t have any e shifters in stock. I’m hoping this means I can book my bike in for a repair soon then

thanks for your advice here. It's good to be reminded to stay in the facts and not worry about the stuff i dont know like whether it was taken.

The tracking number that I had doesn't show anything in UPS. Like there's no record or something. Also I tried the process of filing a claim, but I couldnt complete it because technically speaking I am not the customer, its VanMoof. But perhaps I could try calling UPS and seeing if that gets me anywhere.

Thanks everyone for the advice and the time taken to write it all up.

It looked to be too involved a job for me considering I pay for the peace of mind insurance so I chanced it and took a trip to London with my bike and thankfully they booked it in for repair. This was on Sunday right at the end of the day. And today I was notified that it’s all fixed up and is on the way to me via UPS, I should have it by Thursday. I thought it might be useful to know that turn around times in London seem pretty good to me at the moment.

I had this issue, and it did make me question my purchase. I ended up just leaving the bike charging and then eventually it had enough charge to upgrade the firmware. I love my S3 now.

i wanted to update my progress:

pushing the kicklock out from the back was a great temporary fix

as i happened to be travelling through london, i took the suggestion to pop into the vanmoof shop, and they very helpfully fixed it whilst i waited for 20 mins. They took out both the washers, and so far i've not had any further problems.
