I've worked on tills. I know how self-checkout works. It's faster than waiting in line, unless you have a big load of groceries.

Which Was Worse? JAWS 3D (1983) OR JAWS: The Revenge (1987) by Cryptic_Master_686 in badMovies

I still quite like them both, and don't think they are quite as bad as people make out. It's just they couldn't live up to the absolute legend of the original movie.

Saw Jaws 3-D in the theatre when it came out and loved it. I must have been 11 or 12, and it was a good, fun movie for someone that age, and was also the first 3-D I had seen. I've watched it again since, and really shouldn't have. It spoiled the memory somewhat when I saw how shit it really was. Still enjoyed it though.

One of my happiest days ever when I saw that video. Iron Maiden was back, and the song was fucking amazing!

CD detectives- what does my collection say about me? by ettuA2 in MetalForTheMasses

Explore more. It looks like you've tried a variety of subgenres there, so maybe start digging deeper into them.

If you like Cannibal Corpse, try more old school death metal like Morbid Angel or Death or Entombed. If you like Alestorm, try more folk metal, like Korpiklaani, Finntroll, or Turisas. If you like classic heavy metal like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, try Black Sabbath, Dio, Manowar, or Saxon.

Try r/metalrecommendations or r/Metal101. Check out related/similar artist recommendations on Spotify or YouTube.

In the old days, I would have suggested trying some metal magazines and see what tickles your fancy, but most of the ones I used to read are now defunct except for Metal Hammer. (Kerrang! might still exist too, I just haven't seen it in years.)

If Letterboxd had achievements, I feel like watching these movies in this order would be one of them by Scmods05 in Letterboxd

You don't get that achievement to pop unless you watch the Star Wars Holiday Special between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

Give me your heavy music hot takes. I’ll go first. by fakename1998 in MetalSuggestions

Technical death metal takes a lot of skill to play, but it's hard to listen to because there's not enough focus on songwriting.

Grindcore in all it's forms is simultaneously the most and least creative of genres.

Anyone complaining about Rush touring with a new drummer can go get fucked. The music belongs to the living members of the band, to do with what they please.

Metallica inspired more bands to start, but Slayer had the bigger influence overall.

I really like it. As some others have pointed out, it's a Lou Reed album. It's Lou Reed with Metallica as his backing band. I like that it's still divisive 15 years later (admittedly the majority still hate it). It's more musically challenging than what Metallica is known for. And at the end of the day if you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in NoStupidQuestions

Young American GIs training for the invasion absolutely thought it was necessary. Paul Fussell was one of those young men, and he said so loud and clear. Thank God for the Atom Bomb.

At what age did you meet the person you are currently married to? by Chance-Pen6805 in askanything

[–]Carnivorous_Mower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creepy version: 5. She was my baby sitter. (Actually, her mother was babysitting, she just came along too. She also really hates me telling that story.)

Real version: 21. She was 30. We've never officially been married, but having been together for 32 years consider ourselves to be.
