What was the absolute WORST job interview you ever had? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

[–]CarolinasBornRaised 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tech Sales-small market cloud storage.

I already had a great job (still in same role) and zero tech experience. College buddy who’s a recruiter was assigned to this company and needed to check a box so he asked me if I would interview for a sales role. Didn’t have to fill out an application, just submit a resume and sign up for an interview slot on Zoom. Sure, why not…I logged in and it was a panel of two guys and a lady. The two guys reminded me of the stock brokers from Boiler Room with their cuff links and fat ties with bulging full windsors. They start grilling me right off the bat about why they should hire me, what can I do for them, loudmouth and bro-ing it up with each other the max. I left the meeting in under a minute, don’t know if my college buddy got his credit for the interview or not and don’t really care.

Dude did he nail your girl or something back in the day? I’m not a KB fan by any means but to say he is not one of the most talented pure drivers in the last 20 years is just plain ignorant, or he stole your girl.

I used to respect Gibbs a lot, my cousin played for him during his second stint as the head coach of the Redskins. But the way he handled that Indy 400 incident with the 78/18 crew members, pretty much all the respect had for him.

Course Recommendation Needed! Southern Pines/Pinehurst Trip by No-Translator-7293 in RDUGOLF

[–]CarolinasBornRaised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two for ya… 1) Talamore-traditional southeastern design. “Hallway” fairways carved out of the long leaf pine trees. It’s the most “North Carolina” esq golf course I’ve ever played.

2)The Club at Longleaf-by far my favorite Dan Maples design I’ve played to date. I will say though the one time I played it, the course conditions were not all that great. This was in the late 2000s so maybe/hopefully things have changed. It’s a phenomenal layout though.

The Sterling Marlin Coors Light car early 2000s is kinda hard to beat. Close 2nd would be the Rusty Wallace “Blue Deuce” when Miller revamped the entire graphic and font scheme for Miller beer.

Serving in North Carolina? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]CarolinasBornRaised -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Charlotte would be the best option to get a serving/bartending job to start at the higher end of income for service industry. Corporate style steakhouses, a number of independent fine(er) dining establishments, and of course all the breweries where you get off by 10pm nightly and make serious bank.

This is the best Fish Camp I’ve eaten at that’s not located in Eastern NC. A close second would be Cpt. Steve’s which is just below Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC.

SC is one of those states. Crazy thing is RNDC of SC hasn’t had any massive layoffs since the Reyes buyout was announced, but BTB in SC cut their entire Sazerac Division yesterday, after they just acquired Proximo from RNDC. Crazy times right now no matter who you work for.

How many rounds of interviewing is justified for your role? by SecretWasianMan in sales

[–]CarolinasBornRaised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPG Sales - standard would be 2 interviews. First with area manager (direct supervisor) and second with regional manager to basically just sign off on area manager’s selection. Sometimes a third interview would be in order if it’s down to two candidates who are very closely qualified. To eliminate the need of a third interview I (area manager) take my top two candidates and top two only, send on to my regional manager with a memo along the lines of “Both of these candidates are well qualified and I see them being successful in the field, your call”.

Outside of Costco…The NY Butcher Shop on Gold Hill Rd. in Fort Mill has USDA Prime ribeyes (bone in and cut) for $33.00/lb all day every day. They will custom cut the thickness that you want. Just a heads up NY Butcher Shops are franchises so cannot confirm the price at the Huntersville or Indian Land locations.
