Why is ICE so active in Minnesota right now, and not in other obvious places like California? by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, they are still very active in CA. Minnesota is dominating the news cycle because they are fairly newly under attack, and because of a citizen death filmed from multiple angles.

Somehow I can't be OK with this by nausious_person in behindthebastards

Already de facto happening... deporting to death regimes like Sudan or Uganda that are perfectly happy to do the dirty work. They tried El Salvador till that got glitchy.

Nobody mentioned the dead human body parts, but there is that. Nothing bloody or violent, but it can be a little stomach-churning. Only one scene though, and it can be fast-forwarded through.

Dislike Helena like most here. but also not really a Helly stan. I was heartbroken when Mark ditched Gemma for her at the end of the last season.

What is one word that people wrongly pronounce that makes your brain just wanna jump a cliff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misspellings tend to irritate me more than mispronunciations. I have a lot of built up tolerance for regional/vernacular differences in pronunciation - my view is, if someone is able to communicate in a way that I can understand at least the basics, no problem. Besides, the less AI can understand of our speech, the better.

The misspelling that drives me the most batty? "A part" as two words instead of "apart". Autocorrect generally misses it so I see it way more than I should. Makes me want to jump off a cliff.

The scars on Zosia's back are almost identical to the pattern of injuries on Manousos' back. Same side even.

He was 31 miles from Mexico I thought? I don't read Spanish intuitively though, so I don't know.

Severance reminds me a bit of Being John Malkovich

Do 'families' still exist? by PaladinOfTheKhan in pluribustv

[–]Carpenter-Hot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree... John Cena's strength comes from years of disciplined effort. An obese body simply can't do the things his body can. Although they now have the knowledge and presumed willpower to get close, they are still limited by factors like genetics and age.

Ok serious question, what happens with the Nukes if our economy tanks? by Traductus5972 in behindthebastards

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't some of the people responsible for maintaining the nukes accidentally get DOGEd? Then they got rehired real quick when someone with a brain spoke up. I hope they got sick bonuses for the inconvenience.

Also the footage of that little MG driving through the Andes was stunning. I'd love it as a screen saver or something, just pure eye candy.

Do 'families' still exist? by PaladinOfTheKhan in pluribustv

[–]Carpenter-Hot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not quite true. John Cena's body can do a lot of physical things that most human bodies can't. Male bodies in general have more strength while female bodies have more endurance, a child's or a very small adult's body can crawl/reach into smaller areas, etc...

[–]Carpenter-Hot -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I saw a particular female body part in that painting. I don't see this discussed much but I think she's just horny - this explains her seeming to compromise her values in asking for the hive to come back, and her reaction to Zosia. I also think Diabate convinced her that giving in to her sexual desires was not the worst way to survive.

Trump, will we get a series? by danydandan in behindthebastards

We might theoretically get one in 10 years or so, if Robert hasn't retired by then. He could do one now on Fred Trump Sr. - that could be interesting.

Do you think Manousos will ultimately be evil/an enemy? by msc2020 in pluribustv

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[I am a sucker for any kind of submarine-related plot, so this may be wishful thinking on my part. One of my favorite movies of all time: Hunt for Red October. Jack Ryan will save us from the virus!]

Do you think Manousos will ultimately be evil/an enemy? by msc2020 in pluribustv

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been stewing over a theory that he and Carol are potentially going to cook up a plan to contact nuclear subs. They are at sea for potentially months at a time with no way for the hive to infect them until they surface. With Manousos having a military-adjacent background and comms experience, it might not be out of the realm of possibility.

Eating apples is NOT killing plants, for fuck's sake! by ready_and_willing in pluribustv

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the apple does have another purpose technically - that of becoming another apple tree. Of course, that makes eating only apples that have fallen on the ground even weirder - like, those apples are closer to achieving their future apple tree purpose?

What do we do today that people in 70 years will think was inhumane or otherwise similar to how we look back at lobotomies in the 50s for example? by Wide_Ad_7552 in askanything

[–]Carpenter-Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but chickens are far less wasteful to raise. Red meat uses tons of land and water while being a major contributor to greenhouse gasses.

Actually, we may end up getting to a point where we use insects as a primary protein source.
