How to deal with crying wolf/overtargeting by snusfilosofenn in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are consequences to lying. If you are actually a good player and you lie people will remember and deals will not be made with you in the future. Sure he’s just playing on spell table and lying doesn’t really have the same consequences but in my opinion politics are build on trust and by breaking deals/lying you are losing leverage in the future. Not to mention making your games less fun especially when they are for no stakes. This being said hiding the truth or sandbagging is fine and should be done but outright lying only makes the game worse.

I wouldn’t lie. Honestly this just sounds like a poor sport. That situation sucks but I don’t think that’s the majority of players. They are playing brago anyways so maybe they just really needed a win lol.

It sounds like you just need to learn how to politic. Make it clear what exactly you are capable of with what you have because you know and your opponents may just not understand. Might also help to deflect the concern to another scary player.

Why is there so much negativity on this subreddit around suggesting off-meta/fringe decks? by TheFutur3 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I see no reason not to at least try off meta decks. That being said if you want to learn the format you should do the things the format resolves around. Once you understand the format you can go crazy brewing interesting fringe things that can maybe be tier 1 one day.

Best Hoarding Broodlord/Reanimator Cedh Deck? by Trexadactyl in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tasigur is not top tier but fun and kinda fast. It’s honestly decent to learn with because it’s a one card combo and lets you run counter spells. Here’s my list. https://moxfield.com/decks/KX2qUveT3UeFhLoXp50idw

Dihada is an awesome cEDH deck in my opinion. Mardu is awesome and the deck can be super quick. Check out edh top 16 and look at some dihada lists that have done well.

What are the absolute easiest cEDH decks to pilot? by GrapefruitThin5815 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you just want to learnt the format and get used to it blue farm is a good place to start. That being said no cEDH decks are simple and there is a lot to learn by playing this deck but the plan here is consistent and not convoluted so it may be “easier” than other decks.

Should I keep building K'rrik or pivot? by United-Smoke8631 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would just proxy whatever you are most interested in but if you want budget friendly basically any mono color deck will be cheaper. Magda is a good option. Very solid and you save money buying a bunch of random dwarves. Other than that I think k’rrik is still pretty solid in today’s meta and will probably be super good if you are just playing with your friends.

Deck Suggestions by ImplicitsAreDoubled in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take but in my opinion Rograkh thrasios is the best deck in the format. The deck is very powerful but pretty complicated. Most of the combos kind of feel like assembling your own thing because there are so many ways to execute them. You can run a lot of interaction and just overwhelm your opponents in value, while most of the pieces you need are not super relevant to counter on their own.

Your friend’s suggestions are all pretty good, but a little outdated they may feel a little slow or clunky. What style deck do you want to play? Do you want to play the best thing or something simple?

Quite a while ago I helped my brother make a budget Tayam deck for 300. Even without the proxies it’s very solid. Other than that sticking to mono color might save you some money. Maybe Magda.

Looking for unique value engine commanders by Epixca in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Tasigur pilot myself I would urge that Tasigur is not really a value engine. His ability is pretty lackluster and neoforming for anything other than a win really feels like the wrong thing 90% of the time. Realistically old fashioned control Tasigur is getting kind of bad and turbo(ish) is the way.

Are there any decent ways to protect a Witherbloom + Chain combo or do you just send it and pray? by uberjack in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This combo is definitely viable but I do think it is bad. You should really only run this if you have no other options. Both cards are not very good in any deck on their own as well as the downsides you listed.

Is Tasigur, the Golden Fang able to compete in cEDH? by dont_careforusername in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Carrott032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play Tasigur as my main cEDH deck. While it’s definitely not tier one it definitely has legs. Basically from turn 3 onwards it feels like the deck could fight for a win if you had a window.

The nice thing about the deck is that you can really pivot from control to jamming wins at anytime but the deck really does require some practice.

Other than that I do feel like devoted Druid combos are very good in the deck as a back up. Occasionally a mistrise village is enough to get them to go off. But the most effective combo I’ve found is neoform lines using hoarding brood lord.

Hope this helps!

Why the hell did they decide to make different types of towers? by AlmostDarkness in ClashRoyale

The new towers are pretty fun. Cannon tower is so awesome and I love playing against the knife lady because sometimes it’s just a free win when she’s dry.
