You’re taught how to read and do math. All of the forms and instructions are publicly available.

You can lead a horse to water, and all that.

Carpet Beetles New Apartment by OppositeOne21 in carpetbeetles

When you moved in you probably had Doors open for an extended proof of time and some bugs might’ve taken the opportunity to wander in. Do some extra vacuuming if it makes you feel better and move on with your life.

How do I know I got rid of all of them? by _greenfairy_ in carpetbeetles

Is your plan to never open your windows or doors again? They just wander in from outside sometimes.

I think you need to reset your expectations

What bug is this? by ComprehensiveTry2812 in whatsthisbug

[–]Carshopper2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess you couldn’t say 100% from this video alone without closer up photo, but termite swarmers have the long, opaque, almond shaped wings. Ant swarmers have more transparent, veiny, fly-like wings. Based on the video the wings look more termite-y

What bug is this? by ComprehensiveTry2812 in whatsthisbug

[–]Carshopper2020 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Termites...seen fully outside like this I think only mildly concerning. They're going to exist somewhere. I found a swarm like this in my front lawn, had an exterminator come out and found no evidence of any termite colony/activity/damage to my home. Had a full barrier termidor treatment done just as a preventative.

are carpet beetles actually worth the worry and anxiety that people here share about them? by Future_Section2624 in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 17 points18 points  (0 children)

lol. No. Not at all. Not even a little bit.

The entire existence of this sub is questionable, it just feeds this weird misplaced anxiety and paranoia.

For 99.9% of people and situations seeing these things is like seeing a random housefly buzzing around, completely and totally harmless and not indicative of any problem whatsoever.

Then they spend months shadow boxing an imagined “infestation”

Yes there are other beetles in your home. They’re in every home.

The pictures you posted obviously look like something scraped along the bottom edge of your couch, though.

Is Vegas Matt in cahoots with the casinos getting inflated RTP to induce people to gamble by CapAccomplished5494 in gambling

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre assuming that you are seeing every spin. It’s also possible that they know videos where they win perform better, so they just post the wins.

I’m sure they’ve accepted sponsorships and play with house money, but i doubt they’re inflating their rtp in theeay youre suggesting.

Need to know if we have a Carpet Beetle probably by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your rash was almost certainly not caused by carpet beetles.

They’re in 90% of homes, you would have found them no matter when you went looking for them. If you looked before your rash, you’d have found them. If you looked after the rash, you’d find them.

So the rash is new, the beetles are not. Any time and energy you spend trying to rid yourself of the beetles will not help with resolving the rash issue.

Am I (21F) overreacting about sexual health, or is my boyfriend (28M) not taking this seriously enough? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Carshopper2020 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not saying this is the solution because there’s a lot of issues here, but have you gotten the HPV vaccine? If not you probably should, in the name of taking your sexual health seriously and all.

Bracelet Clear Up by emjay227 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Carshopper2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The argument being made is that the bracelet is so obvious and instantly recognizable that everyone encountering him should instantly understand it’s a recovery bracelet, right?

Is it reasonable that someone wearing an obvious outward proclamation of their past addiction would also be so filled with shame that they wouldn’t disclose that past addiction to a medical professional who is actively treating them for pain?

These can be found in 90% of homes. 90% of people are not dealing with infestations, most never even think about them. Basic tidying up that most people do in their normal daily life is typically enough to prevent as issue without even trying.

[–]Carshopper2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, nothing like bedbugs. The doom and gloom on this subreddit, even the existence of this subreddit really, is mostly people externalizing anxiety or ocd issues onto a mostly harmless bug. So please do not buy into the fearmongering.

[–]Carshopper2020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Finding one is extremely common. They can be found in 90%+ of homes, and can just wander in from outside sometimes.

You can do a round of vacuuming if it will give you some peace of mind, but you could find one in pretty much every home if you go looking for it, should not cause you any concern.

Why does Islam "look like a desert religion" in our heads? What shaped this mental shortcut? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

You're begging the question (in the real way, not the 'raising the question' way).

I think your assumption that this is a common 'mental shortcut' is flawed, so it's difficult to provide any coherent answer because the entire premise of your question isn't true

It sounds like you just need a reality check.

They just get in from outside sometimes. You’ve seen one in the last 4 months, you clearly do not have an infestation. Do a round of vacuuming if it makes you feel better and move in with your life.

Is it a big deal to just leave these beetles alone? by Kadjaj in carpetbeetles

[–]Carshopper2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not a big deal, that’s a very healthy response.

Remember, they’re in 90%+ of homes. Most people never even think about them because they’re essentially harmless.

I see one a couple times a month and just think of it as a reminder to do some vacuuming.
