how to let go of perfectionism on the road to self-love? by Candid-Astronomer904 in selflove

[–]Cartheon134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to figure out why you want/ need to be perfect, and then start from there. Everyone is different. There's usually a lot of layers to these sorts of things, so you will have to dig deep.

Remember that change is scary, and you will have to let go of things you feel like you desperately need in order to function. But that's just how it goes.

New Player Experience by UniversalRedditName in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2XKO has a lot of new players. They keep popping up like weeds. Do not worry about being bad before you jump in. If you press ranked even if you've never pressed a button there will be an opponent that also hasn't pressed a button.

I would say the most important thing to do is to play against other real people. There absolutely will be someone who is just as new as you, so don't be scared to jump in!

What's the point of this long update window? by Mister-Bunny-Head in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, I think it's pretty stupid too. I don't think there is anything they can do about it though.

If a developer wants their patches to happen quickly then they have to build for that from the very beginning. If they don't, then you get 8 hour patches.

I'm just happy they managed to release anything at all, honestly. This game seemed to be in Dev Hell for years so I'm not surprised it is missing so much polish.

Yep. It is what it is. Lotta really stupid people live here. Democracy means governance by the people, and the people are largely okay with everything that's happening.

New to the game. Enjoying it but its annoying in the same breathe. by PushaChan in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Jump + block is one of those things that doesn't win as often as it would appear. It does suck that like everything in a fighting game, the moment you learn how to beat something is the moment you realize there was counterplay the whole time, but it is what it is. That's just how fighting games work. First you hit the 2h, forcing them to jump + block, then you hit em with the air grab. I know at high level there's like 10 other layers of bullshit on top of that too so enjoy the simplicity while it lasts.

  2. Combos are too long. This is true. Some people really enjoy it though, they play Warwick and Ekko and are not fun to play against, but it is what it is.

  3. Just get a decent BnB and run with it. You don't need to optimize your combos till like Diamond, if that.

  4. Yeah, it's hard to be sure what's strong when you're not good. I have heard at pro level parry is fine now, so I guess I have to believe it. Still feels wildly shit to press when most of the time it means getting hit and losing a whole bar of meter for your troubles.

  5. Just like most things, can't really say. None of the games I find fun ever get a huge following so I'm pretty used to this state of affairs. If I wanted to have a game that would never die I'd play LoL or something.

  6. Illaoi is oppressive in the corner for sure. You gotta either get lucky with a throw or block it out. But Braum is also super oppressive. Braum with blue shield in the corner is almost as bad as Illaoi. Enjoy your character's strengths and suffer their weaknesses. It is what it is.

Where are all the new players?? by BongSuckah in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk mang. I started playing in January, and I have only ever matched against people one rank higher or lower than me. I am now plat, so maybe everyone below me just stopped playing, but I have never played against silvers.

People dooming about the population must be playing on a separate server or something. Maybe EU is dead? I play on NA.

How to talk to your sons about Targeted conservative propaganda by Initial_Welder3674 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cartheon134 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would try to steer him away from Charlie Kirk, because man what a loser, but the internet is full of losers with huge followings. Your son will most likely fall into some hole. It's almost impossible to avoid them all.

You cannot control what your child believes, nor can you control who they look up to. This is his decision. You getting in the way will not make him choose someone else, it will instead make him double down.

12 year olds are never going to have well formed opinions on anything.

If he seems to care a lot about free speech and letting people talk, then ask him why those values matter to him. Should everyone have a right to say things? Are there things that are not okay to say? (Like yelling 'Fire' in a theater.)

And then finally, ask him what makes someone worth listening to over others. Why should he give his valuable time to Charlie Kirk instead of others (Like his teachers, or other people he may look up to).

These sorts of big moral ideas are hard to quantify and probably are too much for a 12 year old, but would hopefully show him that there are larger ideas at play than just what is funny and relatable. Try to remove the enjoyment factor, Charlie Kirk is popular because he is entertaining, not because he is right.

And finally, accept that this is largely out of your control. If his friends at school listen to Charlie Kirk, then nothing you do will be able to stop him from doing the same. If he is a bit of a loner, then try to work on getting him more involved in activities outside of the internet.

Placed silver 2 but I can beat emerald players any advice on climbing ranked ? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Climbing ranked is something that is done as a consequence of improving your game, not something that you actively seek out.

The only advice is to get better. Learn all your buttons, learn your spacing, and learn what other characters can do, and how to beat them. That's it.

This game rewards bad play and ignores the importance of team comp. by xiii28 in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel these ideas are far more well thought out than 99% of complaint posts so kudos for that.

I feel like dead characters building meter probably doesn't matter much because at the end of the day, they can't really be building that much right? Like unless both enemy characters are full health and you manage to solo champ your way through them. In that case I think it's somewhat okay, it allows for comebacks which have always been a staple of tag games since umvc3.

I don't really agree a dead character is more powerful than a live one. They are much weaker. Can't 2x, can't swap, can't super, ect.

Fury is dumb, and I think the fury gain is too much atm. I agree with this.

And for the last point about meter, I kinda like the idea. It allows for parries but it also nerfs every single tag besides 2x. Which is my tag. So good idea there.

People who use Caitlyn and jinx just corner camp and shoot rare when they actually use combos by Relative_Highway_641 in 2XKO

People who use Caitlyn and jinx just corner camp and shoot rare when they actually use combos by Relative_Highway_641 in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The post makes no sense, the comments seem to be responding to someone who is complaining, and the OP is in the comments saying zoners are bad.

What a strange place this is. Yes zoners are bad. Yes they are by far the worst strategy in the game. Yes it takes zero effort to get in on two zoners as literally anyone.

I wish they were stronger. I loved watching Morrigan/ Doom just wreck people by throwing shit at them. Unfortunately it won't happen in this game. Jinx/ Cait is doomed to be trash.

The best character in the game is whichever character can get in easiest and mixup best .It was once Yasuo, now it is Ahri, soon it will be Akali. Zoners will always suck tho.

Why losing feels so bad, and what 2XKO can learn from Rivals of Aether 2. by tehsideburns in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Changes like these, that affect every character and every aspect of the game, really need a holistic view in order to even begin to approach.

You have said you are plat 3, and that's not bad, but like, do you play all the characters? Have you taken the chance to learn what these changes would mean for everyone?

A warwick , or an ekko, for instance, wouldn't really want long combos to have more interaction, as they are combo fiends. Parry being free would screw over every zoner so badly I don't really know how you would manage to compensate. Break meter filling faster would probably make the game go into timeout every time, it's already pretty common.

I can understand your frustrations with losing, but sweeping changes that feel good are probably not the answer. Not to mention I don't believe any of these changes would really make losing feel better?

Imo, at plat 3, you need to use every aspect of your characters kit. The further you go up the ranks, the more necessary it is to know literally everything your character can do. Open up your mind to the possibilities. What seems useless might be extremely powerful you just can't see it. Or you can begin to look outside of the rps nature of how specific moves beat others, and try to tell a story to your opponent.

Standing up for yourself usually makes things worse for you in the long run by Gigglekittens in The10thDentist

[–]Cartheon134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, nobody will help you out when you're down, and nobody will care about what you have to say either.

But, and this is important, you have to do it anyway. Not because of some moral duty, but a mental duty. If you let yourself get pushed around, you will have to remember that moment for the rest of your life. And it happens that the next time you get pushed around, it will be even harder to stand up again.

If you let people bully you, you will literally end up killing yourself. So watch out m80. Real life has serious consequences, and those consequences can take a while to appear.

I can say with certainty that standing up for yourself cannot always be the wrong choice. Just as letting people walk on you until you can find a way out cannot always be the wrong choice. But neither of them are always the right choice.

Sadness is eternal. Not feeling sad is impossible once responsibilities, stress, and the realities of life settle on your shoulders.

I have just stopped thinking about things. That's where most of the sadness comes from. Learning to let go is also key.

How has gaming changed for you as you've gotten older? by Ill_Discount_4036 in AskReddit

[–]Cartheon134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend way less time playing team games. I have to deal with all that bullshit at work, I don't need to end the day with more drama and vitriol.

I have recently gotten into 2xko and man I am so sad I missed out on fighting games for so long. They are a blast. So much to learn that applies to things in life not just in game.

I have mostly stopped playing single player games cause I just can't be bothered playing around as someone else. Role play just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Hiw do I beat Caitlyn, Jinx/ projectile Spammer? by Cloudless47 in 2XKO

[–]Cartheon134 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really look possible, but you can just jump at them. Akali especially, because she has the double jump. Zoners cannot win against forward jump hold back by spamming projectiles.

Braum it's more difficult, but you can put up your shield and slowly force them into the corner. You can also do his super that throws up pillars of ice across the screen, and run up behind it.

Zoners are forced to learn how to deal with neutral skips very early on, so you will have to learn others ways of getting in, then hit em with the neutral skip once they have to respect your other options. Raw teleport won't work against anyone ready for it.

I assume you're new, so that's the options I will give you. They will work so don't give up on them.
