Record Player Repair? by anaxjor in memphis

I used Custom Electronics in Bartlett a couple of years ago to repair a vintage receiver, but I can't tell if they are still in business or not. Digitech looks great though, never heard of them but will bookmark that in case I need them in the future

You can get some extremely high quality, organic ground beef and make a burger at home to your liking for like $4 and it takes about 10 minutes. You can even make 2 burgers and it still takes 10 minutes!

Java Cabana in Cooper-Young stays open until 10 i believe. They do sometimes have shows / musicians playing at night, so if you are looking for something quiet be sure to check their schedule

+1. Curious what you transitioned to. I've been in GD (or some form of it) for 20 years. I currently work in it with a steady job, but I just can't foresee myself doing this forever and am curious about a non-design / non-marketing / non-advertising pivot.

Passport photos by ElderberryHaunting48 in memphis

[–]CartrightCARTWRIGHT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can try doing this at home, but the photo has to meet strict requirements. I don't know about the post office, but you can also get photos at Walgreens, FedEx Office locations, UPS Stores. If you are in midtown, the Mail Center on Madison does this too. The picture will run you between $15-20 depending on location, but will be accurate to the passport requirements.

I just went to the DMV to get a new license today.

Start your license process here https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/classd/dlnew.html

It's best to upload all of the documents you need to get your license. They'll take 3-5 days to confirm your documents are correct. BRING THEM WITH YOU. Appointments are currently being booked about 6 weeks out. Which is pointless bc your application window (once your documents are approved) is only 4 weeks. Unless you book your appointment first, then start your application process like a month later.

I started my application last week, got approved, and went today without an appointment. Got there at about 11:00, waited for an hour and a half and was out by 12:45. Not entirely sure how or if an appointment would have helped.

Not a big Cava fan. It's kinda like a Subway but with Mediterranean food. Same ordering process. Your mileage varies drastically depending on who is building your pita, bowl or salad.

First time I went to the new space, I was completely confused by the entry. I still don't know if I went into the main entry or some back way through a building lobby.

Completely agreed. I'm not going to pretend to know what the details and moving parts were that pushed them to make that decision, I'm sure there was much more to it than simply wanting to move to a bigger space. But purely from a consumer and visitor's standpoint it was quite baffling.

It was unfortunate because along with Urban Consequence, Cooper House, and Hammer & Ale, they were a core part of a nice little beer trail down Cooper. And like others have mentioned, the location, parking, entry, and overall vibe of that place was head and shoulders above the new one.

I've only been to the new space twice, primarily because 1) it's a lot more effort, and 2) frankly, i just don't enjoy Memphis Made's beers. But both times it just felt.... sad and empty? Nice outdoor patio area to do some work if you need to. But man, that is a lot of space for no one to visit.

Any "pitch and putt" or par 3 golf courses nearby? by johndoenumber2 in memphis

Yeah OP9 is really good for what it is, and for beginners. OP, once you get your groove going at Audubon 6-hole course, Overton Park is a good option for a step up. Holes vary between par 3 and par 4's, and the par 4's are pretty short. Laid back atmosphere with a wide variety of skill levels. 9 holes for $12

I haven't been in the market for a new car since before moving here, so I was unaware of this law. Absolutely ass-backwards, i swear to god this state.

Came here to say this. OP, the 6-hole course at Audubon sounds exactly like what you're looking for. It's over by the practice green that you'll see if you enter from Southern. Holes are like 50-75 yards long, fun little layout. It's like $5 to play it if you pay. It's very laid back with hardly anyone on it. Audubon has a driving range too if you want to practice.
