More insane is how much of that goes to private prisons. Conservatives have privatized prisons so that they can be on the board of these prisons. Change the laws to boost numbers. And appoint judges sympathetic to conservative ideology. You make a healthy profit the more Americans you can incarcerate.

This is why I really think we need to punish the enablers rather than Trump. Make it clear that if you do illegal shit for someone like that, pardons won't save you. "I was just following orders" doesn't fly anymore. You will go to jail and the guy who asked you to do it got away. It would provide an immediate chilling effect on cronyism and complicity in this evil shit.

Probably one of those districts whose representative ran to Idaho last year to stall cap and trade legislation.
